another reason squint opera is so good, is the fact that they are showing obvious aging and patina of materials. So many times in 3D models, the final product looks great, but too perfect. As designers using the computer as a medium, I think we need to pay more attention to the “imperfect” parts of design and how they can really convey a sense of place…

Squint opera is a media and film production studio

i understand, that although they employ also architects they don’t design places.it might not be practical for us to spend that much time for creating renderings or animation. i also suppose they apply a variety of progarmmes, such as maya or 3ds max, after…[Read more]

Is Squint just a rendering firm or do they actually design as well? Their animations are pretty amazing but it doesn’t seem practical for anybody outside Hollywood to spend that much time and money creating such comprehensive animations.

the mvdrv visuals are certainly very well crafted, but what i appreciate more in squint opera’s and sla’s visuals is that they convey athmosphere, a sence of place and they “tell a story”, they are charming and especially the second one of squint opera evokes a fairytale. they make me wonder and curious ot learn more about the project.
for next…[Read more]

all you have to do is print screen michael… all you have to do is print screen. I agree, squint/opera wins. I would like to know what there whole process is in post production. It would be interesting to find out what is 3d model, and what is put in afterwords.

honestly im not sure of the landuse protocol around turbines. I think you have to give up a little space for infrastructure but beyond that youre golden… but in any case i like the mvrdv rendering too. Squint/Opera just has so much depth and richness in their renderings, they are like pieces of art. Stinks that i cant theive the pics off their…[Read more]

Squint/Opera takes the prize every time. Very talented, however, I think Till Nowak might give them competition. I really like the rendering with the turbines by MVRDV, although I think that mechanized machinery might disrupt the plan come harvest time.

Hello.. Thanks for the group creators. It is a really good one.
I am a landscape architect from Turkey, working as a research assistant and doing Ph.D. I need some help about the small scale lansproject plans. Our students are trying to find some project, plan samples to improve their design skills especially on planting. Is there any plans or…[Read more]

thanks for the link. pretty talanted people, its interesting to see how they tell a story and the proportion of graphics to images and overall style. Once you start to use these programs you begin to understand the amount of work that goes into those productions.

im leaning towards rendered images but if its something closely related i guess that would work too. they dont have to be your own. just something you think is worth everyone looking at. its not like “hey look at me” its more “hey look at this” and james there isnt any judging, its whatever.. i dont think im going to get enough images where i…[Read more]

These are rendered images? Do they have to be our own? Or can they just be really good renderings we find?
