3ds max + landscape architecture 17 years agoTerra mode does a lot of high end environmental rendering, and yes we do animations as well. However, we would like to start to apply more physics based animations that give real information such as watershed calculations. Visual information is key to our industry. 3ds max enables the designer to raise the bar on the spread of relevant information.

California Native Plants 17 years agoHas anyone seen a CA native develop over time? I’m interested in how native gardens survive in the real world of residencia. I’m using my own yard as a test, having just planted about 50 various species. They’re all infants right now, but I’m very excited to see how they grow,

I attended a seminar given by a Dr. Bob Gerheart a couple of years ago. He is a well respected scientist here in california that specializes in Bi-filtration. Look up his name and see what comes up. Good luck. -

Japanese style lol 17 years, 4 months agointeresting topic and love your take/enthusiasm regarding japanese design. I can’t really comment on the lack of japanese LA’s but I feel japanese landscape design lives through many designers. I live in miami, florida. and the manufactured naturalistic approach as seen through japanese designs compliments our native landscape well and I see…[Read more]

Japanese style lol 17 years, 4 months agoThanks Loe, very flattered.
I think it’s something to do with our approach to empty space. We have experienced shortage of flat land from the beginning. So, finding flat and open land was the first step. Some could find a plot in a ‘urban’ site (in medieval term) which is small and cluttered by neighbours, the others found a small plot on mountain…[Read more] -

Japanese style lol 17 years, 4 months agoHi Yuko. I am always enthralled by good japanese design and always wonder why such simplicity in design is so difficult to master. I hope to find some answers in this group.
