Steve Roberts replied to the topic What all can you do without a license? in the forum STORY BOARD 9 years, 3 months ago
Bennett, As a MS State graduate you should know the answers to those questions. If not I need to come back and teach class (the board doesn’t play the I’m stupid game). Landscape design which means only planting plans is generally not regulated, pretty much everything else is. As an educated Landscape Architect anything that you do can affect your…[Read more]

Steve Roberts replied to the topic Does your community require the stamp? in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 13 years, 9 months ago
Jeff, I hate to do this to you man, but think before you speak or type, I said that all states that have a practice act require a stamp, not that all states have a practice act. Big differance.

All states that have a practice act require a stamp, and all work must be stamped. Here is a link to the ASLA website where they explain all of this. http://asla.org/StateGovtAffairsLicensure.aspx. I am not sure why you would ask this, you must not be a Landscape Architect, otherwise you should know this.

Steve Roberts replied to the topic Development of thesis topic….needing input on "New Urbanism" in the forum RESEARCH 14 years, 1 month ago
I am an MSU grad, and I did my thesis on New Urbanism as well. I wrote about Dan Kemp, the developer of the Cotton District, who I believe is now the Mayor of Starkville. He loves to talk about New Urbanism, he is a nice and approachable guy. I suggest that you meet him, bring up the subject and see where it leads. He is a strong supporter of the…[Read more]

Steve Roberts replied to the topic Question Related to Section C formatting in the forum PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE 15 years ago
I don’t know what test David took, but the essay question was on the test every time I took it. And I took it the summer of 2008. It is only about a paragraph or two so no big deal. Just state whole sentences and spell everything right. The PPI book has good examples of the format. I suggest that you take a review class. The no essay question must…[Read more]

Steve Roberts replied to the topic AutoCAD in Irrigation Design in the forum TECHNOLOGY 15 years ago
Sorry Chuck to the best of my knowledge there isn’t any third party software for AutoCAD LT. You should have purchased a program called BricsCad. Land FX will run over BricsCad and AutoCAD. Also if you get on Hunters website they have some irrigation symbols inside a drawing called legend.dwg that you can download.

Steve Roberts replied to the topic Stimulus funds being used to burn the Eastern Red Cedar in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 15 years ago
Well I really just think the whole thing is a tragedy. How many jobs did “The Nature Conservancy” create with that grant? Why are they going after a native tree? I do believe the Eastern Red Cedar is a field succession tree. Trees are what clean the air we breath, not grasses? How is burning a tree creating green jobs? I am not a fan of…[Read more]

Steve Roberts replied to the topic Abundance of Florida Plants in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 15 years, 1 month ago
Well when I first moved to Florida I felt overwhelmed too. But I learned to love the diversity of the plant life, and came to call it “Paradise“. Palm trees were the hardest for me to get used to, but eventually I could pick them all out and tell you all about them. I did however have some help from co-workers and a few good books. “Florida my Ede…[Read more]
