I created my website a few weeks back, just with a taste of my work, I figure if prospective employers/ clients like what they see, they can ask for more.

First attempt at this, any criticism would be helpful. Let me know what you think.

I primarily use my website for my portfolio.

It was done several years ago. Now with blogging supposedly so important in marketing, I’m wondering if I need to re-do my site so that it can be interactive. Any opinions?

You’ll get the most out of any prep course (especially Section E) if you work on practice vignettes for at least a couple of weeks prior to the class. Otherwise it can be very discouraging for someone who had been out of school for years and doesn’t work on grading plans on the job.

There are also Prep Courses at UCLA Extension. So you can get your classes without too much travel cost. I will post those dates later today.
The site http://www.asla.org, under Education is LARE Prep. There are brand new vignettes posted that you can use to practice. These were prepare by CLARB’s test provider for ASLA to provide to candidates.

I agree, if you can avoid taking C and E at the same time you may have better luck. It is a TON of information and you can easily get confused or worse: exhausted! I wouldn’t take c and e at the same time either. I took c twice and passed the second time. Just failed e for the first time after studying like crazy. Just signed up for June…we shall see

Here in the Dallas/FT Worth area, offered through UT Arlington & taught by Joe Pack.. Sorry I don’t have the info on when it might be taught, usually early May.

Honestly I wouldn’t try to take them both at once….study your fanny off for one or the other, pass it, and then take the other in December. I thought site design was a lot easier; I took a weekend workshop that gave me good insights into CLARB world (it’s not about beautiful design!). The “felt” fabric. Blanc’s installations has two layers of fabric that he drips his water/fertilizer solution through. This is a non-soil installation. The plants root into the fabric and fed by the solution.

barlow, I would really be interested in seeing what European style sketches are and what one would percieve is the common american style of drawing?

Anyway we can get some quick sketch technique (marker, colored pencil, pastel etc) and rendering tutorials on here ?

you bring up a good point..atmosphere is difficult to convey in hand drawn work. all I can think of at the moment is airbrush..
