Here are a few example of what I’m talking per request.
“So, if I had it all over again I would avoid the whole damned mess by getting a degree in marketing and/or graphic art.”
“This (the new SSI Standards) is the most insane thing that has come down the road.”
“I’m going back to school because there isn’t enough stability in the…[Read more]

Thanks for the feed back, I know that there are others that feel the same way I do but sometimes it is nice to hear that others feel the same way. Also good point about looking at it as a learning tool, rather than a presentation item.

So here’s my question of everyone, I have difficulty sometimes sketching because I want to make everything literal. I took art classes in high school and that is how I drew. I know this is an insecurity thing, but sometimes I worry about how my sketches will turn out because before I start I feel like they are not going to turn out like I want…[Read more]

haha I love the dialog!! Without putting this train of thought into words, I have had this same type of thought. Many people that I talk to while most don’t know what a Landscape Architect does do begin to find it interesting once I begin to talk to them about it, and some of the things that I have done in school.

Personally I have no problem with HGTV, but I would rather watch DIY. I don’t think that the network is the problem because just think about it, if you were asked to be on one of the shows wouldn’t you like to have the network give your title as a Landscape Architect? After having taken a look at many of the posts on the topic, I think that…[Read more]

Zach Watson replied to the topic Are you hiring? in the forum ANNOUNCEMENTS 15 years, 11 months ago
The company that I talked to isn’t flourishing by any means at the moment, but the principle that I talked to said that the future was looking a little brighter than it had been in the past that is why I said that things here in PHX are starting to look better.

Zach Watson replied to the topic What are the most commonly used computer programs used by Landscape Architects in order of most to least? in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 15 years, 11 months ago
One additional program that might be worth taking sometime to get to know is Revit. I have a relative that is a mechanical engineer and he is working on a project in which EVERYTHING is being built in the program prior to final submittal/approval. While it is an amazing program it is not built for out type of work, but there maybe clients that…[Read more]

Thanks for the information, like I said because spring semester doesn’t start for another week and a half I don’t have a good reference as to how effective ASU’s chapter is, but I want to get involved this semester, because I didn’t hear anything about it fall semester. What I have heard from the students involved with the AIAS chapter here, they…[Read more]

I went and talked to a firm here in the Phoenix area and one of the two owners said he was not ready to hire yet but things here were also looking better.

Personally I’m not saying that we need to re-title our profession, I was simply looking at a blog about landscape architecture and urbanism and saw a magazine article on the subject. I don’t have the rest of the article, the first page of the article was the only thing posted. It was something that I had never head someone say before and I was…[Read more]
