I think thats the industry standard along with ‘architectural graphic standards.’

Thanks for your answers.
Well I have the opportunity to go to a foreign country to do my internship.
And I thought I could do this in the US because I love it to be there. 🙂
The internship has to be from october till february. By then I have a two years apprenticeship.
I could send an application with some of my works to firms who are interested…[Read more] -

Are you referring to a forum post such as this? If that is the case, we have not and think it is a great suggestion. If you refer to something else please let us know. Once again thank you very much. It is all appreciated.

Many of the larger firms still have summer intern ‘programs’ available to students or those just out of school. I did the Design Workshop program. Many of the programs are very competitive to get into, but offer a little more in terms of experience. We did a charette in Asheville and it was a blast.
Some firms that come to mind with internships…[Read more]

Believe it or not, somehow I actually know what you mean Jim and agree. The best I can come up with is it’s kind of ‘tight,’ but in some ways I like it how it is.
Overall, I think it looks great and you’ve certainly got some good content.. Have you posted a link over on Archinect as well?

One more thing Mr. Aceto. We alternate every day with Architecture and then Landscape Architecture for the featured firms.

Thank you so much for the feedback. We know exactly what you mean. Yet, in order for us to achieve the visual “book” kind of feel, we had to structure it as such. So that each post links to referenced “tagged” posts and you can access the galleries with ease. If you have any specific suggestions as to how to make it more appealing please let us…[Read more]

Ditto on Nick’s comments, although I’m not as critical on Liebskind imagery. The only other comment I make is that it’s kinda has architectural-kinetic bent to overall website, as opposed to an organic, weaving, mysterious sense I like to see when I visit a website.

That is great to hear. We specifically added all of the Libeskind content today because of how controversial his stuff is. On his TED talk people seriously bash him every which way. However his Jewish Museum is absolutely incredible. So we chose to showcase the various sides of him to give the best light into the Architect and his work. Please…[Read more]

I’m defending the concept of shared streets, not saying we should do away with sidewalks and bike lanes. Sidewalks and bike paths are left out of a lot of development, because people are too cheap to build good public infrastructure, not because of ideas about shared streets. I’m all for sidewalks and bike lanes on most streets.
Most streets…[Read more] -

Are they trying to restore a priairie ecosystem or something along those lines? I know that even though a species may be native, it may not be endemic to the ecosystem they are trying to restore, so they try to eliminate it. When I did habitat retoration work in NJ we would use E. Red Cedars…turned out to be hard to get in the nursery trade as…[Read more]

Nice Site!
I like what you all are doing very much and the collaborative concept. It looks like someone on your team is really into daniel liebeskind. Something about him/his work rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it is because his art museum here is in a perpetual state of disrepair and leaks water. I’m jst not into his work, but that’s another…[Read more]

Thanks Jim,
I agree that there are probably ways to create more exciting playscapes. It isn’t necessarily just aesthetics that concern me regarding prefab structures, but the limited utilization of the entire site these things encourage. It seems eay enough to cordon off a rectangle of pea gravel and drop a play structure in. It seems like…[Read more]

LEED in Landscape Architecture 16 years, 5 months agoI just started working at a new firm, Rana Creek. The first LEED project I am working on is a large scale neighborhood renovation project that will capture greywater from showers & laundry for a for landscape irrigation. It turns out from our initial calculations, all the homes intended for water harvesting collected too much water, so we needed…[Read more]

I just googles it as well and one of the first hits was an artical or blog entitled, ‘Progressive Urbanism, Stuff White People Like?’
I laughed as I read further that one of the cities the article refers to is Denver, the city I currently call home. I’ve lived on both ends of town east and west, cherry creek and lower downtown. The article talks…[Read more]

What do they say? Architecture is livable signage. I know Venturi was an advocate for ornamentation and detail in the times of minimalism and modernity which has clearly taken a foothold in contemporary design. I’ve repeated this over and over in recent discussions. I think contemporary minimalism stops at function, therefore leading to the need…[Read more]

Well I really just think the whole thing is a tragedy. How many jobs did “The Nature Conservancy” create with that grant? Why are they going after a native tree? I do believe the Eastern Red Cedar is a field succession tree. Trees are what clean the air we breath, not grasses? How is burning a tree creating green jobs? I am not a fan of…[Read more]

Ugh…
You’ve reaffirmed my suspicions. Things really need to change in this regard, imo of course.
I have some great landscape ideas for new site which I think all make sense and would be a blast and relatively safe from a kids standpoint, but have a sneaking suspicion it’ll all end up flat for the reasons you’ve mentioned. There must be some…[Read more]
