I agree with Marc’s reply. You really do need to seriously consider your species selection well, and what function those species are required for ie. filtration of pollutants or filtration for reduction of roof run-off and stormwater flow reduction etc.
Endemic species in relation to your site is perhaps your first area of research…then consider…[Read more] -

Take a close look at the link they provide…its CLARG.org, not CLARB.org. And it’s not a typo, as the redirect is the same (i didn’t bother to open it, I don’t need a virus). Also, don’t they already have the exam historys? It’s their exam! Only my last name appears in the e-mail…which is also fishy.
I’m betting they will ask you to update…[Read more]

Hi Logan,
It looks like you are doing all the right things. See my posts on the “4 jobs on ASLA” discussion board for links and to see what I did when I was laid off.Basically in these times you have to follow the money, as trite as that sounds. Get creative and think outside the box–which you are doing.
But also engage in shameless…[Read more]

Tutorials don’t really give me right answers and I have many problems to figure out, but it’s difficult ask somebody.. Not so many people are using this..

I agree with you on LEED. I am a more experienced LA out of work. I don’t think my lack of certification is the reason I’m not successful at getting employment. The problem I see with LEED it that is a marketing tool to a firm. I think we as a profession have too many certifications (there was an excellent article on this in LA magazine recently).…[Read more]

In my area just about 90 percent of the job force was laid off in the building industry about 2 years ago. The company I worked for went down at the end of 2008. There has been two job postings I have seen here in the last 8 months. The two adds were online adds. Each not explaining what company was hiring. And the emails rejected my email. I…[Read more]

Great to hear from you! And yes, as my reply to Nick indicates, the professionals interviewed feel that our profession’s future is bright. The book might also be a good resource to use to illustrate to clients (and state registration boards, etc.) how diverse our profession is and help to expand the public’s view of our range of c…[Read more]

It was Will Rogers who famously said that they’re not making any more land. So as the world’s population continues to expand, how this precious and ultimately limited resource is used will continue to grow in importance. Landscape architecture is the profession best suited to address key issues of restoration, preservation, designing for human hea…[Read more]
