Thanks for all of your responses, very enlightening. It sounds like it might be an ok fall back option but not a progressive work environment.
With the economy being what it is I thought about taking the exam to get on the waiting (and waiting, and waiting) list so I would have a opportunity should I ever need it. Is that a good strategy or…[Read more]

Yes, I agree that “free range” children would be the ideal, like how my husband grew up in a rural area and still tells about how he wandered unsupervised among the woods and fields and streams etc. but I’m afraid even in rural areas, that dream is long gone (and I suspect even his mother had no idea what he got into). I think the natural child…[Read more]

Your graduate project sounds very interesting, but at the same time it is very challenging as well. Try to do your homework and prepare a fine plan and then work according to it. All the best.

Rightly said. No business owner can make considerable or even decent profits from his/her business activities without having a well-devised promotion plan.

The whole internship thing in Landscape Architecture once you are out of school, as I understand and have experienced it, is a lot less formal than you may perceive it. Basically, it is the required time that you need to put in as a full time employee under the direct supervision of a licensed LA in order to sit for the licensing exam. Typically,…[Read more]

Leslie, thank you for that post, what an incredibly rich site. Lots to absorb, thank you so much.
I will never forget the children confined to their buses, until the school bell rang, parked by a nice set of playgrounds, but not allowed to get out before class, even while most of them were on the buses for over an hour. For me, that time playing…[Read more] -

Were I to hazard a guess, I’d say he’s asking about turf options for sporting fields. Soccer, specifically.

Much of the test (if it is still the same one) is about being a team member – leader to grunt – and where you fall within the group.
If you are self-employed (and really really honest) then you tend towards the I do it all because I am the team attitude and answers, and you score low. Don’t answer that way.
Depending upon which district you e…[Read more] -

There is no doubt that games activities lead positive effect on kids growth which make him stronger from both side inner and outer. You said that we as designer need to build places where kids spend their spare times in any healthy activities.

I did it in 2006 and I don’t remember there being all that much to it. I got notices about job openings about 8 or 9 months later. By that time I had found a job, which subsequently vanished into the ether of the real estate collapse, so I really wish I had pursued it. That was before California’s fiscal crisis and hiring freeze, so as has be…[Read more]

Wow! Bye is one of those designers that I really wish people knew more about. And so appropriate for this conversation as well. Talk about a guy who really understands the value of wild and natural spaces. I always loved how his goal was to make a space seem as if it wasn’t designed at all and views the L.A.’s role as more of a behind the scenes…[Read more]

The winter gardens in the Commerzbank in Frankfurt-am-Main in Germany by Foster are still looking pretty good.
Paley Park had a maintenance budget locked away when it was built.
Maintenance would depend on how well it was designed (irrigation, soils, etc), and yes, it costs money, but the flip side is if it makes for a more pleasant place,…[Read more]
