Right now I really need study material for section C and E. I have a study guide, flash cards and good books for the other sections. I could use some practice tests for all sections. I don’t have a lot of money, though, if you’d want that in exchange.

Hey April,
Check out Plant Lust. They have a good plant database, information, and photos. I also turn to Monrovia and San Marcos as go-tos.
Hope this helps!

Which field is more rewarding/enjoyable?
the answer to that question rests completely upon you…you’ll get out what you put in.
if you have a crummy work ethic and no talant then don’t expect much. if you work
hard and try to learn and hone your talents, you’ll probably do well, but again, it depends on you.
another piece of advice I can give…[Read more] -

Roland, talk to Gary Austin. He used to be into MiniCAD and may be able to help you out, hook you up, or point you in the right direction. … assuming that you are still in Moscow.

Hi Roland,
There are almost 200 Vectorworks videos on Youtube to give you a great start. As we do product design, landscape design , and use 2D & 3D architectural drawings every day , we found Vectorworks is a great all round software package. It also allows us to achieve fairly high quality renderings without having to export to any oth…[Read more] -

Roland, The good news is that you can use Vectorworks on a PC as well as a Mac. Yes, it started in 1985 as MiniCAD and was Mac only, but that changed in the mid 1990’s when it became cross platform. There are getting started guides available on the Vectorworks webiste http://www.vectorworks.net/training/getting-started-guides (free) and the software has…[Read more]

Hopefully, you’re smart enough to pursue another career!! Landscape architects are paid with peanuts, yes literally…with peanuts! You can be passionate about other things and still be paid well too. I’m giving you a harsh reality check. Too many people in here giving you advice with their rosy colored, romantic glasses on. You feel an itch to do…[Read more]

Figure out what you want your day to day life to be. Most firms have someone that you can talk to and ask for an informational tour of their office. This will give you a flavor of both. When I was in school they said something like half of the graduates will not ever be traditional Architects, so maybe you want to look at what related fields you…[Read more]
