I will say that I think there are individuals within the movement that will cause a split. Looking at Oakland…the police force was brutal…but the fact that individuals fought back turns the dialogue from what it needs to be. This makes me sad. I suppose there could be a difference and I believe soon b/w those that want to follow MLK and those…[Read more]

Chris Hedges gets it. He is the most coherent and inspiring voice of the movement, and I find great inspiration in his words.
As far as your questions, I honestly have no idea and am not really qualified to say. I do know that settling for a seat at the table is paramount to giving up. I don’t want a seat at the table, I want a new table. I b…[Read more] -

Hi all,
Thank you for the study tips for the CSE. I will be taking the test soon and was wondering if anyone had any more recent updates in regards to the test. Seems like the last post was almost one year ago…

I don’t know about Singapore, but Aoya in China is a large corporate office with offices in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Beijing. They have several landscape designers from the Philippines too. You can get by with English in those cities pretty well. I can give you more info about mainland China if you are interested, but sorry I don’t know anything…[Read more]

I think a good deal of us already out of school are so ingrained in our CAD programs that we forget (or never learned) how to draw by hand. After I was laid off from a company that did little to no hand drawing (unless I was asked to draw a perspective), I went back to doing my residential work by hand.
Here sketchup works as a blessing and a cu…[Read more] -

I became certified as a requirement for my current position. Getting the certification does require knowledge that many LA’s are lacking in. While it is a commendable and respectable certification, my feeling is that it’s more of a technical certification that’s geared more toward technicians or contractors. I think anyone designing with trees,…[Read more]

She wants one outdoors, although most are indoors. She lived in Japan for quite some time and now Singapore and has enjoyed them indoors and outdoors. It is the simple hot water tub- no jets, no soap, just hot water. There are many for outdoor use available made of hinoki or cedar…or concrete, porcelain, fiberglass for that matter. I’ve done…[Read more]

The thoughts you express here are as moving and worth contemplating as those of Hedges. I’m curious, though if you do not see OWS as becoming a political force, how will its message, will and staying power be of consequence to breaking the syncophant relationship between Washington and Wall Street ? I share your great concern about the…[Read more] -

Remember when you were a kid and Mom and Dad told you stories about Santa Claus? This is equivalent but on an adult level. Nothing but a pipe dream! Jeff –
I do a search about once a week by going to the various City websites for the communities we’re near by. I search within each site, or look for a bid/RFP menu somewhere. Then I bookmark the actual RFP advertisement page so it only takes a few minutes to browse through them all.
I find that’s a pretty decent approach to keep your eye on…[Read more] -

The scary thing is that the consensus of the OWS people seems to be that the government (politicians) should step in and take over these private institutions of which they are responsible for corrupting.
Where did you gleam this insight? I am part of OWS and I think electoral politics is a farce. I have no faith in the system as curr…[Read more] -

I would contact a public relations person at State Department – they have had to retrofit hundreds of embassies and consulates throughout the world for defense, since the eighties, specifically since the Beirut bombing in 1983, and they have an active program for Embassy retrofitting for defense – in fact, this is one place to look for a job, if…[Read more]
