Scott Lebsack replied to the topic RFQ/RFP's-Where do you find them? in the forum PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE 14 years, 6 months ago
I realize this is an older post, but thought I’d offer my suggestions. Generally state laws require RFP/RFQ be “published”, this means you can find them in the legal sections of local newspapers. I check the local newspaper’s website as well as the websites of the agencies themselves directly.
The easier way I’ve discovered is to get involved with…[Read more] -

Hi Andrew,
Specifically it’s a Advantex Treatment System with High Head Pump Chamber. This is a walled system. This system was chosen by the Engineer at this point we are just trying to deal with it! The sand filter is 32′ x 12′ exposed about 2′ above grade and the pump chamber is 11′ x 20′ it is also exposed about 2′ above grade. At this time we…[Read more] -

Everyone thank you for the responses. this is some great information you all are providing.
This was a topic that I wanted to research, it is still very early in the game to really pin point what I want to do but I would love to stay within the realm of the military. I’ll be looking at some of the resoruces you guys gave me and will updating so…[Read more] -

I now live and work in SW China so let me assure you there is outright blockage of certain well-known websites. The kind that were attributed to allowing for more widespread communication during a few of the Arab Spring uprisings earlier this year. Without a VPN workaround, one cannot commonly access YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Hulu, even Rolling…[Read more]

A good resource or case study might be the Laws of the Indies. This was the administrative tool that guided the establishment of military outposts in the Spanish New World. It included design guidelines that morphed civilian and military. To this day, many Latin American towns are centered around a Plaza De Las Armas that served as parade de…[Read more]

A good introductory book on the planning of US military installations is America Town.
Are you interested in design for military bases or in security design as it is applied to conflict zones?
The former is done by ACoE, the various branches, and consultants who specialize in military work (architects, LAs, Planners, Civils, etc.). Also, s…[Read more] -

It is interesting, especially from a European point of view. The secret is to play our cards right. This assumes that the dollar will remain weak, which is why the European automakers are building plants here (that, and to avoid import taxes, and break away from the euro-unions). I don’t see wage hikes in China having all that much impact, as…[Read more]

They block searches for sensitive words, but they don’t block websites (except for FB and Youtube). One can still get into Wikipedia, or many international news websites from within China. And most Chinese can read and write in English since it’s taught in school. If they really wanted to know something, it’s not that difficult to get the info online.

Geez, why did they have to put the “Curtains for the US” article at the top of the list below the article?! I don’t even want to read that one after I get to feel good for a change!
I guess you can only dump so much smelly plastic and rubber on the world before it says “Enough!” Seriously, ever get something made in China and all the parts are w…[Read more] -

so sorry. I just looked up that thesis and it is not what I thought it was. Someone at UGA had a very similar thesis in 1997 or 1998.

I love the Article and I love seeing that there are people and COMPANIES that are strong on future US growth. I also think this will be great for our profession, employment once again as people invest in the US. Made my day!!

Are you looking for a small enclosed area that has only minor roads? All I know of are some retail developments.
An idea of a major road streetscape would be Post Oak Drive in Houston. It runs through the Gallaria area of the city and it has really cool stainless steel signs and structures to create a sense of place as well as…[Read more] -

There is no consensus for the privatizing of corporations. I have to laugh…because on one hand OWS is totally disheveled and disorganized but on the otherhand is for…a, b, or c. I can agree that politicians are corrupt…but you can’t give corporations a free pass. We are asking that rules that have been systemically dismantled are put bac…[Read more]

I agree Craig…we do a good enough job on our own dividing ourselves. It is really sad. I think fear has a lot to do with it, rather then a balanced look at what is happening. There is definitely a, “shoot the messanger” mentality. We had a girl swearing at us the other day and asking us where our American flag was. Really. Lets focus on why we…[Read more]
