David Barbarash replied to the topic Does anyone use Rhino for Landscape design? in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 14 years, 9 months ago
I disagree. There are only two kinds of modeling software, solids and surface modelers. Surface modelers drape a surface over a series of splines or NURBS curves. Surface modelers draw faces between points in space. FormZ and SolidWorks are no different (mathmatically) than Max or Cinema4D.

Hi Daniel-
I have co-worker of mine who has expressed interest in learning sketchup. I’ll send him your way! Since it’s the weekend, he probably won’t get back to you until next week. Thanks!

I’d love to teach that course for half that cost…
In addition to the aforementioned resources many design schools have short how-to handouts available online – might be helpful to browse around through those as well. Key to learning software is to have a project goal in mind and see how it operates and helps you get there. InDesign will he…[Read more] -

Jason, smells like another scam on the backs of our fellows……indeed how much could it cost to maintain electronic files? does the phone company still charge for touchtone?
When I took the then called “UNE” under the clarb direction, it was a four day ordeal that cost a few hundred for the whole exam. If you failed a section, you could retake…[Read more] -

If you are into planning or urban design, you can go back to school and become an urban economist (yes, there is such a thing).

And even if you don’t end up liking it – who cares. You found your truth, acted on it, went for it, and at the end of it all, you owned it.

The funeral industry is in retraction as the industry consolidates into huge corporations that buy up family funeral homes and run several with the same staff.

Pursuing another degree is never a mistake. If I could (and had the money) I’d do something in the fields of health and nutrition (which has NOTHING to do with LA). It’s just not something I have the chance to pursue yet in life.
I just started an internship at a firm in Boston (my first REAL job in LA) and I’m learning that there is so much mo…[Read more] -

“Has anyone here exited the Landscape Architecture industry?’
I did and regret it. I had a great DB company and made the mistake of opening a garden center. A new nearby Big Box creamed my retail sales and mental stability. I got out of the LA field and pursued the healthcare field. Didn’t like that and got back in the LA field after LA lice…[Read more] -

I am not sure that the current graders are paid? I am pretty sure that most of that is done by volunteers. The current system is expensive however. I am not sure how this will be any cheaper. I only see things getting more expensive, but that is life it is not progress unless it costs more.

I think an MBA in Economics is a great idea. You will find it of value whether you are an LA or not. Many LA’s would benefit from business/economic knowledge.
I left the field for about 7 years. I eventually came back, because the field I went into, airline corporate and agency sales, went into a tailspin after 9-11 and I couldn’t get a job…[Read more] - Load More
