I’ll be visiting the these cities in New York soon. What are the best places to see? Things to do? Places to eat? Where are the publicly accessible award-winning projects? Looking to make the most of my trip. Thanks!

Stay away.  Other than Niagara Falls itself and a few new developments in downtown Buffalo the region is a complete utter sh!t hole.  Justification for such a harsh statement (lived there for five years).

There are some Frank Lloyd Wright work up there, no? (http://www.visitbuffaloniagara.com/businesses/frank-lloyd-wrights-martin-house-complex/

    Also an Olmsted plan (https://www.bfloparks.org/)…

I think Joy Kuebler’s done some neat work in the area (http://www.jklastudio.com/)

Thanks for the comments. I had a great time in the Niagara area. Didn’t end up going to Rochester and didn’t spend much time in Buffalo, but I did visit the Martin House (FLW), Delaware Park (Olmsted) and several restaurants to sample authentic wings. Some highlights of the trip were hikes at Letchworth State Park (voted #1 state park in the nation) and Niagara Glen (on the Canadian side of the Niagara Gorge), and of course Niagara Falls. The views from Canada were amazing, but I definitely preferred the atmosphere and public space on the State Park side (Olmsted again, though with several more contemporary renovations). There was lots of construction on the State side too (design by the LA Group) that should be complete by Summer 2017 that will only make the experience and views better.
