LAND8, in partnership with the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), is proud to announce the winners of the 8th Annual Social Media Awards in Landscape Architecture—recognizing the individuals and firms using social media to expand the reach and impact of the profession.

From tackling climate challenges and elevating social justice conversations to sharing practical knowledge and experimenting with new forms of storytelling, this year’s external jury chose winners who exemplified social media with purpose—not just to showcase work, but to shape how landscape architecture is understood.

An annual landscape architecture conference organized by students for students, the LABash 2026 planning team explored the theme of “cross-pollination” as a lens for innovation in landscape architecture. Their Instagram feed’s vibrant colors and bold graphics intentionally deviated from the discipline’s conventional grayscale formula, while their playful digital content integrated personality and a community-centric vibe into their outreach. Through LinkedIn and website posts, their interviews with other universities promoted an activist ethos that extended across regional boundaries.

As an allied education and media platform, LandSpace supports the profession by promoting landscape architecture through open, high-quality visual education on Instagram and YouTube. They translate professional workflows— design, mapping, GIS analysis, climate-resilient design, and visualization—into practical, short-form tutorials for students, young practices, and universities worldwide. LandSpace’s content highlights real projects, design methods, and public communication of flood risk and climate adaptation, strengthening global engagement and visibility for contemporary landscape architecture.

A “studio and laboratory of urban architects,” based in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, Urbideias offers innovative technical solutions and visual interpretations of urbanism. Their Instagram feed reflects their philosophy that, in addition to its utilitarian function, landscape architecture can awaken emotions, stimulate the senses, and enrich people’s lives. Their goal is to “democratize content to many people, at the same time, [at] different locations.”

How can the complex, slow, and evolving value of landscape architecture be communicated through the fast-paced, icon-hungry lens of social media? For Copenhagen-based SLA, that question is answered through a multitude of social media forms, from behind-the-scenes videos, process stories, and filmed interviews to extensive use of before-and-after photos, natural capital data, and user interviews. According to SLA, “If we can inspire other landscape studios, designers, and students in finding new ways and voices to communicate about the unique values of landscape architecture, we all win.”
