Water is allowed to enter then exit the raingarden farther down grade…. in a small to medium event most precip will be captured and perc in these areas. It is Florida so larger rain events will be allowed to overflow and enter into the existing culverts at intersections.

Hello! I know that there are some manuals which Japanese Garden Designers use when designing gardens. There are garden parts samples and even garden sample schemes. Where is it posssible to get such manuals?

Denis – try “From Concept to Form in Landscape Design” by Grant Reid. It’s a good starting point for what you’re talking about.

Hello! I am looking for manuals on Design itself – especially combining forms and shapes(geometry), getting beatiful lines, proportions and finally getting harmonious composition. Any good books or e-books? The best free available on-line:) Waiting for advices!

Green roof in the desert would be great…added insulation, sound attenuation – irrigate with graywater! Are there precedent projects in the area?

Hi all. I’m working on a planting plan for a steep slope in an area that has plenty of DG (East San Diego) and need to add a burgundy color to the palette. All of the other plants are xeric. I’m hoping to find something that someone doesn’t need to prune (due to the steepness) but that will add color even if it’s deciduous. I’m using Ma…[Read more]

So does the water go through in the right hand corner of each cell? Or is each cell a separate containment area?

Thanks David and Bayazit.
I’ll have to check out some of those plug-ins, and while I’m at it I have to get V-Ray.
I’d love to see some samples of 3rd party plug-ins. -

Hi Hefti,
you can find some examples at my DA Gallery 3D Jobs folder. Most of the recent works are produced with 3D vegetation, a combination of pre-made models, self-models used via proxies and rendered with MentalRay or Vray. Hopefully, they can give some idea.

Hey Daniel – I have a quick (hopefully) question. I tried to create a shade structure, but I can’t seem to figure out how to control the direction the fabric is taking. On the attached SU file, I would like the fabric to have a downward curve (showing the gravity) and instead I have an upward curve. Is there a quick way of changing the curve……[Read more]

As McHarg, Carson and colleagues set the sustainability movement in motion is there any discussion on chaos theory which may be a contemporary building block to add to McHarg’s shoulders?

Are we really landscape architects/ designers? Are we not philosophers, psychologists, subversive thinkers and all connecting with an unknown place – jumping not knowing where we might land and sometimes failing? Who knows where he/she is going? Chase Teddy Roosevelt’s lecture to the Sorbonne in 1910!
