Green Streets 16 years, 1 month agoThank you Jason, and everyone else for the welcome into the green streets group. I really am looking forward to discussing the latest thinking with green streets with you all. Going to Kansas City, Missouri for a presentation on Tuesday and Wednesday, but I would like to post some things when I return.

Green Streets 16 years, 1 month agoWelcome Kevin. It’s great to have you involved with our group. I am a big fan of much of your work which has continued to push the envelope for innovative LID solutions.
I also wanted to mention that I just recently moved to Seattle to pursue 2 Professional certificate Programs at The University of Washington. One is in Wetland Science and M…[Read more]

Green Streets 16 years, 1 month agoWelcome Kevin! Thanks Jason for your comments on maintenance. After e-mail chats with many people, the fundamental move is to have regular inspections to look for needed maintenance patterns. I agree that it is a relatively new field for L. archs, and so the phrase “moving target” is apropos for the moment.

LEED in Landscape Architecture 16 years, 2 months agoI’m in Southern California too and passed the exam just before the cutoff – it only took 6 or so weeks to get my certificate and listing on the website. I know they are a little behind because of the rush to take the exam before the v2.2 cutoff, but I would be a little more proactive if I was you…you don’t want this to fall through the cracks…[Read more]

LEED in Landscape Architecture 16 years, 2 months agoCheck your status on the USGBC web site. If you are listed as a LEED AP there, everything should be fine and you can assume they are just behind in sending out the certificates.

Digital assets and resources 16 years, 3 months agoI’ve used Auto Cad for 7years and I have to move on Vector Works for a new Company. It’s so confusing and not so much information so far.. Tutorials don’t really give me right answers and I have many problems to figure out, but it’s difficult ask somebody.. Not so many people are using this..

Kim, I have seen some examples in Charleston, SC that are using some green street technologies such as curbside bioretention and permeable pavers. I would look up Liberty Hills and Oak Terrace Preserve which I believe are both in North Charleston. Here are some pics: -

Green Streets 16 years, 3 months agoI am pulling together a maintenance manual for a design studio that wants to install storm water mitigation in its projects. After reading widely, I have noticed that most information has the same maintenance guidelines. I find it difficult to believe that if sedimentation must be cleaned out 4-5 times a year from an in-street planter in Portland,…[Read more]

3ds max + landscape architecture 16 years, 4 months agoBest case situation, buy a blade server and kick your rendering jobs out to it. However, I would have to say that some of the best environs that come out of 3ds start as basic spatial models and are brought to life in post production. Animations are important to get right solely in the program and demand real power. You better have 2 computers or…[Read more]

3ds max + landscape architecture 16 years, 4 months agoI know of network rending, and have a vauge idea of how to do it, but I have yet to actually try it out. I’m currently running a laptop with 2G ram, 256Meg GeForce6800 Go Graphics Card, and a 2.17 Pentium Centrino. It isn’t fast, but it gets the job done. The dream rig I was planning before my Fiance’ got laid off was a Intel I7 processor, 32 Gig…[Read more]
