Christa replied to the topic What is a simple way to make a survey with a hand held GPS? in the forum TECHNOLOGY 14 years, 2 months ago
I think the only way is through GIS. I am looking for similar information, but for a Trimble GPS. Has anyone used GPS for general survey and grading work? Some of the units claim accuracy within 10 cm if the data collection lasts long enough (45 minutes within 6 miles of a reference site). It seems like this is pretty loose for water management,…[Read more]

Christa replied to the topic Resources/Books for Drawing Technique in the forum GRAPHICS 14 years, 2 months ago
Paul,
Mike Lin has a book that guides you through the techniques he covers in his drawing class, Drawing and Designing with Confidence. I took his 2 week class and found it to be helpful (http://www.beloose.com/). His perspective charts might be worth checking out, as they make perspective drawing really easy. The first book we covered in school,…[Read more]

I would love to have a copy, if you can direct me to a link or send me a copy. Laying hands on some of this information is difficult. It seems to be produced in the branches of science, but little consolidation work has been done that relates the research to practical application.

Rebecca,
I have taken the drawing course, but was not able to have it count as graduate course credit. I didn’t need the credit, so I didn’t push very hard.
However, following your line of thought regarding the independent study, if you are taking a full course load, additional hours may not cost anything more. If you are a full-time student…[Read more]

Christa replied to the topic Curb Cuts to Bioretention in the forum SUSTAINABILITY & DESIGN 14 years, 6 months ago
I know Portland, OR has installed several different types of curb cuts, both as a part of new construction and as retrofits. Someone there could be a great resource for dimensions, etc. I have attached a few photos of one of their projects. Good luck!
