I agree with Ernst – Laburnum x species. The smoothness of the bark and irregularities of the branch form is certainly a feature of Laburnum. 

I can’t answer any of your questions Tom, but I’ve noticed a reduction in numbers of positions being advertised by recruitment firms especially in europe and the middle east. The firm is called CGLA and we don’t have a website – yet. At this stage I am putting together an interim one which has a variety of projects on it.
