Areas with permanent government installments (i.e. military bases/DC) have/were hit less than areas without during this recession. I know from personal experience that work continued to trickle and has even now begun to pick up more (mainly in the residential market). I would suggest looking to firms in these types areas that have stood the test of time (15, 20, 25 years established).

Such a great response. I will look further into those options and keep an eye out for opportunities.

🙂 Great idea, but unfortunately to be registered in other states such as NC or IL – the time requirement still stands.

No, unfortunately not. Up until now, all of their work has been smaller scale or projects that do not require a RLA, thus their team of horticulturist and landscape designers has been sufficient.

NC State requires their BLA to do study abroad and strongly suggests their MLA as well. The curriculum is designed so that the spring of the second year of the MLA program can be spent abroad or in a swing studio in another department or with UNC Chapel Hill in their planning department.

NC State has a Prague Institute which caters to their College of Design. I studied there in the spring of 2009 and had the opportunity to work on a large scale urban planning project.
