Thank you for the lead Henry. At $570 it looks like a promising alternative to AutoCAD. I’ll have to give it a shot.
One thing that caught my attention and raised concerns is that there are a lot of 3rd party add-ons available. I don’t know yet whether that is due to a lack of basic functionality in Bricsys or whether they are just very industry…[Read more] -

eh, good luck getting a bunch of PC people to transition to Macs… Expect a serious drop in productivity while people figure out what’s going on…(several months). If you have existing programs and processes ingrained in your corporate culture, it will be a rough transition. Kinda like taking a curling team and turning them into hockey…[Read more]

Stainless roll cage!? Can you do that? I mean, isn’t stainless heavy and brittle? If you could, that would be rad and would probably look very cool with that mat/satin color for the body.
Sweet for a truck, not so sweet for a bench… -

Yeah, I tend to judge urban landscapes based on how much fun they would be to skateboard. Not very much fun equals not enough grade changes (banks, hips, stairs, ramps, etc) or hardscape (rails, benches, ledges, curbs, etc). I grew up looking for “skate spots” everywhere I went. In retrospect, what I was really doing was analyzing the built…[Read more]

Sometimes it can be hard to smell good when you haven’t left your desk in 36+ hours (true story)… doesn’t pushing for deadlines trump smelling good…?

More information needed. Are you working on one of the existing “Eco/Echo Parks” or are you trying to design an “eco-park” i.e. ecological park…?

Thanks, I didn’t change the dimensions of the bench at all. It’s still 12″ wide x 48″ long x16″ high. The frame still follows the same path, I only wanted to experiment with consistent forms and materials (boxed frame w/ straight lines) instead of the mix of curved/straight and aluminum/stainless. When I get a minute, I’m going to do an all…[Read more]

Gee, thanks for getting my hopes up T-1… You really had me going there for a minute. But with all your talk of torture and institutionalized madness, I’m afraid the stress of that gov’t job might be getting to you.

Well, I had to buck-up and walk the walk, if I’m gonna talk the talk. Here’s my straight-line version of the Civic Bench. I like to call it the Civil Bench 😉 The colors need a little tweaking but overall I’m pretty happy with it. Check out the corner detail on the base. Dig it. The frame is 1″ boxed steel, two runs, spaced 1/4″ apart. The seating…[Read more]

Sorry Taj, I grew up skateboarding. The bench is 4′ long, making each section of rail 2′. That is plenty long to pop up on as you’re cruising down the street for a quick rail slide. It would also be really nice for a fakey nose grind.

Chicken & mushroom ravioli with butternut quash sauce. Wicked good and cheap to boot. Make a full batch of pasta and sauce and you’ve got two lunches for around $3 each.
