Making it “work” could be as simple as using stainless for the seat and rolling the edge of the seat to match the radius of the tubing. Another option would be using 1″ boxed tubing, stacked two together, fabricated at 90* angles instead of bends to match the aesthetic of the existing seat. You could also create short backs for each section,…[Read more]

contrived. forced. disconnect between materials. If you’re going to have a back rest, have a back rest. People naturally dictate their “personal space without having dividers. Without knowing the context of the bench, I don’t understand the need to have alternating seating orientations. feels awkward.
not to be a total downer, it does look…[Read more] -

I think the thread is a hoax… you’re right, it doesn’t add up… I like the concept though… maybe instead of a textile sweat shop we could teach them a real world “technical” skill such as AutoCAD because being strapped to a desk for 16 hours a day is much more humane than being at a loom… Then we could outsource all of our drafting to…[Read more]

Professors don’t tell you how to do every little thing because there is power in figuring it out for yourselves. You will naturally gravitate to the tools and processes that are right for you. Discussing programs and process with your classmates is excellent, you will create bonds that last a lifetime and learn tricks more quickly if you share…[Read more]

Except don’t give them the benefit of the doubt about being clueless… incompetence was the last administrations excuse also. It’s the new “get out of jail” card. “I was incompetent. You can’t blame me…” Oh, yes we can… Incompetence and a “lack of oversight” does not preclude one from accountability, just as being clueless about the…[Read more] -

When I was a kid, I loved building “forts” out of cardboard boxes, blankets, tarps, old mattresses, crawl spaces… you name it. The peak of my pre-pubescent architectural career was a “fort” created from scraps salvaged from a neighbors bathroom renovation. It’s bones were pallets covered with a tarp (for water proofing) and scraps of plywood…[Read more]

I’m sure there are paid internships… I had one during spring semester Junior year. It paid OK and I was a “Landscape Architecture Intern”, not “Staff Level Landscape Architect”. Most summer internships also have an agreed upon termination date, when the student goes back to school. I know that there are also schools where you take a semester off…[Read more]

A lot of people don’t understand what an “internship” is. An “internship” is when you pay your tuition for the semester while working for someone for free or close to it. I don’t know why anyone would want their school to require an “internship” in order to graduate.
Why would you want the university to require it of you? Not only are you working…[Read more]

Great website! I went to CSU also and really miss it… those were the days. It looks like your D/B company does really nice work also, naturalized but very designerly.
