Thanks for your response, I never heard of Mac before your post, I’ll look into it. You’re responding to my portfolio I posted over a year ago when I was a few months out of school, hence the school projects in the portfolio. I did finally get a job a month after I posted it because of the helpful community on this forum.

I wasn’t impressed with the hardware of mac computers for their price. Both modern PC or Mac systems run less hardware intensive programs fine, but for hefty tasks such as 3d rendering, Windows open architecture PCI bus allow a wide video subsystem. Mac, though PCI, is severely bottle-necked. I’m glad mac works better for your work needs, but I consider myself as a typical entry level production person and I personally find PCs better for my duties. The iMac screen was pretty though.

Original poster ask for insight on a computer that better supports the programs she’ll be using, she is not investing in stock. Why don’t you post something constructive than insulting my workplace or posting old newspaper ads and web comics?
June 23, 2011 at 8:45 pm #161823Tim ZhangParticipantExplain to me how is Mac not behind PC in this case when many of the advanced functions don’t even work for Autocad.
June 23, 2011 at 4:24 pm #161830Tim ZhangParticipantReally? give it time? The point of this thread is to choose the next computer for Leigha, she’ll be graduated by the time Mac catches up. Isn’t Mac the one that’s one step behind in this case?
June 22, 2011 at 6:45 am #161882Tim ZhangParticipantMac now has Autocad, but you can’t use any express tools, tool palettes, e-transmit, one workspace limit, filter, quick select, in-place edit for blocks and xrefs, and dozens of other features firm use on a daily basis. While it might get you through school work, why would you handicap the developmental years of your career by limiting urself to only the basic features of the one software that every single new professional will need to use? If Mac is better, why is almost every single firm PC based? For those who say that you can run Windows on Mac… why would you pay hundreds of dollars extra for a windows license?
With a 500 dollar PC you can do everything you’ll need to get through MLA. So get a PC. Get a Mac if you are the type of people who likes to look cool inside Starbucks, who drinks a single cup of mocha over a course of 8 hours while blogging in Helvetica and editing clips you took of your dog in iMovie.

I’m in similar situations during meetings, but I don’t mind at all because if I were a 140 year old landscape architect licensed in 63 statesI wouldn’t want a kid to tell me what to do.
March 29, 2011 at 7:09 am #164220Tim ZhangParticipantWhy confine yourself to one place? I was once offered a position in a Beijing firm before and I refused, and I am still kicking myself over it. If you turn it down now, i promise you’ll wake up one morning, run outside, collapse onto the ground, shattering your knees and the surrounding asphalt, and then shake fist at the sunrise for not ever taking the job. Maybe not as dramatic.. but if you think you’ll have even an ounce of regret for not taking it, accept the position!
December 29, 2010 at 5:09 am #166108Tim ZhangParticipantI agree, I work more than 40 hours, PER DAY.

Just like a prostitute. You find yourself hanging out with people in the same profession as you.
Just like a prostitute. You take calls from potential clients and have to meet at their homes.
Just like a prostitute.Sometimes, when your client isn’t interesting, you have to fake it.
Just like a prostitute.Sometimes you get paid by day.
Just like a prostitute. You often work nights.
Just like a prostitute. You have to dress a certain way depending on what you have to do.
Just like a prostitute. You find yourself kissing an endless amount of ass.
Just like a prostitute. When people ask you what you do, you have a hard time explaining it to them.
