I can personally tell you that with my consulting services I have successfully guided one firm through the transition from AutoCAD with Land F/X add on to Vectorworks Landmark. The latest iteration of Landmark is by far much better than earlier versions and this firm is working with Architects that are using Revit and AutoCAD on complex urban…[Read more]

Lucas,
Did you make a decision? I have made the transition from Autocad and sketchup to Vectorworks Landmark and can’t imagine going back. The issue I would have is that at its core Land F/X is Autocad and once you have used the more graphically oriented Vectorworks you will agree that it is vastly superior. It also has much better drafting tools…[Read more] -

Anyone able to share a few details, maybe a good site, layout plan?
I’ve watched all the tutorials and demos I could find on revit and vs for landscape and the design is with nearly non existent or a small cottage garden. I find it very difficult to understand the capabilities of the program if the sample is poor. I’d love to see some streetscape…[Read more]

Well the best way to do it, like you sort of mentioned, is to give them work that makes them feel like they’re doing something meaningful, and making sure they don’t do overtime and burn out. And then all that wellness perks will be unnecessary.
These construction details, estimates, being in front of the cpu, can be a bore, but I think people can…[Read more] -

Planetizen has a large selection of online, inexpensive, short courses on planning topics and software apps but also much relevant stuff for LAs. Another site I like is deeproot http://www.deeproot.com/blog/ Though a commercial blog, they have relevant and researched articles on green infrastructure.

Kristin—
I’m a little late in seeing this thread but find the dialogue between Trace One and Lauren timely and interesting, and I think it’s a tremendous resource for you—a passionate real-world discussion of some very big landscape design issues which also may help inform your career direction. I like Trace One’s feistiness and I think it’s good…[Read more] -

I agree. I think we are all doing it to one extent or another.
There are some very specialized designers/contractors in my area addressing regulated issues as the mainstay of their businesses. The regulation in my area has spawned this as a very viable business. Make no mistake, the ones that thrive are the ones helping the developers get what t…[Read more] -

Andrew, I bought a D size HP T120 a few months ago directly from HP online….
It cost about $1,000. They even did 0% Financing.
I have been very pleased with it. Check it out. -

Thanks for the response and the follow up. I’m probably just going to have to trust one of the many companies out there. Thanks again.

Sorry, it looks like everything they carry is refurbished and they only appear to deal with HP plotters.

It’s been several years since we bought ours (maybe 4-5). I bought it through Minnesota Computers online. Never heard of them before finding them while searching. We did buy a refurb plotter, not sure if they carry new as well. I only offer this because I remember their customer service before, during, and after the sale to be exceptional. It…[Read more]

Through Google you can find your answer. Landscaping promotes our bio-diversity. It is helping our conserve rainwater and reduces soil erosion. Now–a-day Hiring an expert landscaper is a very difficult task. Last month, I hired a landscaper in Temecula areas. They provided me mind-blowing yard maintenance services.

Depending on the program, some degrees will offer more options post graduation (I recall a professor from ASU chiding one of my students who mentioned an ID degree to do an architecture degree because it gives you a broader sense of design (and is typically more rigorous) and you can still do ID. As others mentioned LA will still allow you to d…[Read more]

Lucas,
Having just returned from the ASLA Expo, and our customer appreciation party there, I can relay the vastly common sentiment among our users, is that the Land F/X experience is like no other — the service, the quality of product, the response time, and so on.
Go ahead and grab a trial of Land F/X, and I’m fairly certain you’ll appreciate…[Read more] - Load More
