I worked in an office with 3 engineers and 3 la’s. During client meetings one of our own engineers would jump right on his phone in front of the client group as soon as we started talking about design.

Great to see other people in Europe trying this out and this will encourage me in my efforts to persuade the decision makers

Thanks Tony for the recommendation. The lectures look interesting but I am looking for a longer event if I were to travel all the way from Shanghai to UK just for a short lecture. Do you know of any conference worth attending?

Police headquarters at Bievres (Essonne), near Paris, use goats rather than hippies to chew their grass. Following article is in french, but I’m sure you can find similar practices info in english through a quick search.

Yes very interesting idea and a great way to ‘eat the view’ if we add in the benefits of supporting local food markets and understanding where our food comes from. Thanks

I remember reading an article detailing how bamboo cell structure was organized following Fibonacci’s number.
Could probably be effective to design virtual trees following Nature’s ways…

Funny thing about money. The politicians have it for things they want, but never seem interested in continuing the funding for things already bought. New = sexy.

Hi Toby
Thanks for your interest and yes how we manage public perception is a key issue. One detailed example is the fact there is now little revenue for ongoing grass cutting in the county such as on highway verges which do need cutting especially on visibility sight lines. We are running some experiments with semi parasitic wildflowers which we…[Read more] -

Very interesting,… that makes my think of other numbers and their numerous associations, such as ….,6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13,… but maybe 8 has the most comprehensive fit with ‘Land’ in the direction of landscape architecture as a practice. The symbolic associations you’ve presented cover a tremendous range, potentially infinite range.
Thank…[Read more] -

Rockwell Group were the ones who came up with the whole Imagination Playground concept, which combines large foam blocks, water, and sand. They actually designed the foam blocks.

Number 8? I always thought it was an upward facing infinity symbol, as in; “Land to infinity and beyond!”…lounge. (Sorry. I was wondering the same thing the other day, and I have no idea)
