Yeah, we had sweet chairs (Herman Miller) but the desks were really layout tables and were too tall and had sharp corners, all of which added up to weird wrist/shoulder/neck issues. If you raised your chair to compensate, then you had too much pressure on your legs/lower spine because your feet weren’t properly on the floor.
Being a cyclist, I…[Read more] -

I’m sorry, I tend to have that effect on people… I can’t help it. It’s always made me unpopular… Just yesterday, I think I made a bunch of professional potters feel bad when the first pot I’ve ever thrown turned out pretty darn good… I overheard one of them say, “I spent 10 years learning how to do that…”. Then I had to blow the next three…[Read more]

I saw the title of this post and my first thought was, AAHH not another topic like this…. Once I saw the example, I realized that I have spent the last 2 1/2 years spending money and time to become an LA and now…it’s all worthless. 🙁 Sad Day.

i’m digging your proposal #6. I have been telling my husband for months now that my right shoulder hurts by the end of the day, and i’m quite sure it’s b/c my ergonomics are out of whack. The office of course went to Office Depot and bought the cheapest chairs possible, which do not adequately accomodate different body types. My husband, who works…[Read more]

SketchUp 15 years, 3 months agoYou could also try the Shapebender script by Chris Fullmer. It can be a little complicated to figure out at first, but once you understand what it’s doing, it becomes pretty easy to manipulate. Chris has produced several videos (also posted at the above link) that help explain. If you have questions after watching those I’ll do my best to help.

Great points all. I am in the “college is long enough, learn the rest in the world” crowd. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t look at improvements to formal ed.
Jason’s 3+2 is intriguing. I will say for myself, I would not have been able to make a decision about the next 2 after 3 in college, but…..interesting idea. I remember taking the L…[Read more] -

Now there’s a way to turn a negative into a positive! In order to survive you have to be creative and I thing the Dora mats are a seller to kids from 3 to 5 years old. My daughter would love one but you have to include Boots or it’s a deal breaker! If they are already in production, market it as Ivan the Operative with a small characature of Putin…[Read more]

The Hyannis example does not involve public input until the actual permit hearings. The early meetings are with staff such as town engineer, planner, water department, health department, and growth management staff.

If I understand your question, the main concern here is process, which would be project review. If a project is within the current zoning, eveything is ministerial (sp), and pretty cut and dried– fair enough.
But upzoning to a higher density (which is almost an automatic reflex when a developer seeks a new project) requires review, a…[Read more] -
Thomas J. Johnson replied to the topic Which 3D Design Software is Most Used? in the forum TECHNOLOGY 15 years, 3 months ago
Your frustration is common with job seekers throughout the profession because there is no single, universal answer. The high-end 3D design software is expensive and hence cost prohibitive for most firms. It also isn’t necessary for most projects, so it’s wasteful to have it sitting idle or hiring someone who only specializes in that particular…[Read more]
