Middle East Landscape 15 years, 7 months agoHello,
I have recently moved from United States to Abu Dhabi and am searching for landscape and urban design jobs in UAE. I am particularly interested in urban ecological planning, however, my work experience ranges form small scale garden design to urban master plans. I invite you to see examples of my work and would appreciate any employment…[Read more] -

I’ve been to the Netherlands several times, and while traveling around the countryside you often see sheep grazing the tops and sides of levees along canals. I belive they can’t allow trees to get a foothold because their root runs can create water channels. Then Hans has to stick his finger in the leak in the dike and well, you know how the…[Read more]

I can attest that goats will eat poison ivy. They don’t seem to particularly want to… but they can do it.
Goats art better browsers than grazers: they don’t eat much grass. Sheep are better grazers.
Have at it.

Craig,
How about this? Since we do not know who our government is or what it is doing. How about a new reality show, like “Hell’s Kitchen”? This way, you get to know your politician’s name, what he or she is supposed to do, etc., and vote them on or off, based on performance? Again, just a thought….

Nick,
Hey just brainstorming here, but how about another reality show, “Dancing with the Government”? Well, it is just an IDEA!…. Somehow, the masses need to get imformed! I agree with you, Nick, but don’t think your “boycott” will work.
Craig, Got any better ideas? I sure hope you do!

Nick, I like your list!!! I wonder if -election reform, would be one that you would also add?
I am stuck on the last point,”-boycott public humiliation as entertainment, faux news, and other trash being spoon fed to the masses.” I don’t see how a boycott would help stop propaganda… although I DO see your point. One thing I was thinking is that…[Read more]

Taking a walk around the neighborhood to get an idea about what everyone else is using is not necessarily the answer. Just because your neighbors are making bad decisions does not mean you should be to. I know in my area there are about 25 plants that get used over and over. All of our customers see these plants and that is all they ask for…[Read more]

it doesn’t interface with autocad, but it does with sketchup. you can get a free trial on their website, so you lose nothing by trying it to see if it works with your programs.

You have to match your equipment to your business plan. Part of that plan should consider gross sales, existing skill sets, investment in education and/or human resources, overhead, deliverables in keeping with the market you are working within,…. This is going to be different for everyone and every situation.
Also, you can’t treat it as a one…[Read more]

I entered this field eight years ago with merely a Bachelors of Science in Parks and Recreation emphasizing in Plan and Design. I knew AutoCAD and GIS (never used the GIS). The positions I applied for always required a BLA but I always sent my resume and portfolio anyways. I posted my resume on ASLA’s website in 2004 & 2007 and couldn’t keep up…[Read more]
