The Palouse was formed (or is formed) by soil blowing in from the west. If I remember correctly, there can be 40′ of soil. They do dry land farming of grains and legumes … wheat, peas, and lentils for the most part.

You see this country in a lot of car commercials and as the default background for Windows XP.

I wonder if it might have been a trip to the Palouse of eastern Washington and the panhandle of Idaho that inspired this. …. this scale might seem even more excessive.

It is not about paying to make sure that it is graded fairly. It is initially graded independently by two graders who do not make any marks on the paper at all. Supposedly, they typically find the same errors. If they don’t, a “Master Grader” takes another shot at it to resolve what the correct grade is.

If I recal it correctly, 70% on a section passes. Sometimes these discussions make it seem like perfection is necessary which is not the case. I had a redline review for grading and drainage. It was a strong point for me in school and at work, but I was not passing the section, so I got the redline review. It was very helpful because I was making a consistent drafting error that I did not realize. I passed it the next time.

I’d suggest LSU (I have no connection to any of these schools). It is in state tuition for , very highly respected, accredited, and not way out of your element or a huge move for you.
