Irrigation Design 17 years agoHello, I’m looking for some education advice. How important is it to take an irrigation course? The LA program I’m in doesn’t offer anything regarding irrigation.

California Native Plants 17 years agoHas anyone seen a CA native develop over time? I’m interested in how native gardens survive in the real world of residencia. I’m using my own yard as a test, having just planted about 50 various species. They’re all infants right now, but I’m very excited to see how they grow,

DESIGN 17 years, 1 month agoHi Barlow…hmmmmmmm sweeping statement, but none the less there is some merit in what you say, but surely it is not simply an american[USA] problem. I guess it depends on whose work you are looking at, and at what stage they are at in their careers. It takes time to develop individuality.

Why are all american sketches the same and why are all american designs the same? It’s like copy – paste. -

Cal Poly Pomona 17 years, 1 month agoHey Guys,
I’ll get a piture up soon, just real busy that last few days. As faar as the LATC is goes, it isnt a beurocratic thing, and I would send letters to no just the governor, but you state senator and assemblyman as well. The LATC has a staff of less than 10 people, and is completely self supported through exam and license fees. It has no…[Read more] -

Cal Poly Pomona 17 years, 1 month agoEd,
Thanks for starting this group. Great way to hear about what everyone is doing.
Also to Nick: I’m unemployed now; since the end of October of this year. Using the time to license, and look for work.
I got the notice/letter to the Governor regarding the LATC after the 23rd. Should I send anyway? I’m wondering about what you said about it being…[Read more] -

Cal Poly Pomona 17 years, 1 month agonick,
work is slim. I’ve been hurting since feb. last year (so cal lower desert seemed to be one of the first to dry up).I hope everyone has voiced thier opinion to our governor concerning the elimination of the latc. not sure if it’s that great a cause though. beside the obvious function to regulate; is the latc just another bureaucratic…[Read more]

Irrigation Design 17 years, 2 months agoHi Bill,
Exactly, LandFx uses hatch patterns instead of trying to place the poly line around the shrubs, and calling out the emitters in the schedule. I think its much cleaner this way.
No it wont warn you of increased precip rates (we still have to use our brains as designers)…..

Irrigation Design 17 years, 2 months agoYeah, it looks like a great time saver. Although anything is faster then the way I do it, so I’m probably no the best person to judge. Are you asking if you should draw in the spaghetti and/or the poly? Too much detail is a waste IMO. The contractor won’t follow it anyway. The hatch patterns look fine. You’ve called out the emitter size for each…[Read more]

Irrigation Design 17 years, 2 months agoHello folks,
I have uploaded a sample drip plan that I designed using LandFx irrigation. (I’ve been using the software for 5 years now) I’d like to know what you think of the way LandFx handles drip irrigation. The page also explains how LandFx calcs the drip areas (its very cool.)
