Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 13 years, 10 months agoI have a quick question about resumes. I will be graduating this coming May will my BLA. I am in the process of cleaning up my resume and cover letter. In looking for jobs to apply for, I always search landscape architecture, since that is my specific degree. I am not yet, however, a registered landscape architect since I am entry level. Ca…[Read more]

Habitat Restoration and Mitigation 14 years, 2 months agoTanya, thanks for the advice. My first option would be to get professional experience in restoration design before I go back to school and I’m very much looking into that but also looking to keep my options open. Also, thanks for the advice about the portfolio, that’s something that I’m aware of but it slipped my mind at the time. Changing now, thanks!

Habitat Restoration and Mitigation 14 years, 2 months agoHey Charles – rather than spending more $$$ you might try an internship with someplace like Barr Engineering in Minneapolis – they have a lengthy restroration portfolio. If you want hands-on experience you might call them to ask who does the installation of their projects. Ann Riley’s Waterways Restoration Institute in Berkley, CA might be a g…[Read more]

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 14 years, 3 months agoPeter, your comment about approaching your portfolio from a print format perspective is interesting. I think many of us who spend a lot of time at the drawing board suffer from this, and moving our personal work to digital format is a jump for some. I think that if you have a standardized filing system in place that is reflected on your co…[Read more]

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 14 years, 3 months agoThanks for the feedback, Page! It’s funny, looking back now I obviously should have clarified a number of issues you picked up on.
The document is set up in an 8×10 Blurb template (because most of my sites are portrait orientation) and the “cover page” is actually Page 1 of a Blurb template (the cover is a separate document at this time because…[Read more] -

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 14 years, 3 months ago@ Peter Coyle. Regarding the pdf portfolio you uploaded to this wall, here are my comments on layout.
Cover page: clean layout but a missed opportunity to immediately showcase your skills. Consider some of your images as a semi-transparent background, or a small thumbnail strategically placed. Re-format the cover to landscape orientation so…[Read more] -

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 14 years, 4 months agoHi! I also would love anyone to review my attached portfolio and offer any critiques! NB: this is a low resolution copy for upload size reasons, so smaller text is illegible (focusing on general content/layout). Thanks in advance for any comments!

I’ll have to check out some of those plug-ins, and while I’m at it I have to get V-Ray.
I’d love to see some samples of 3rd party plug-ins. -

3ds max + landscape architecture 14 years, 7 months agoHi Hefti,
you can find some examples at my DA Gallery 3D Jobs folder. Most of the recent works are produced with 3D vegetation, a combination of pre-made models, self-models used via proxies and rendered with MentalRay or Vray. Hopefully, they can give some idea.
