Living Roofs and Walls 14 years, 6 months agoGreen roof in the desert would be great…added insulation, sound attenuation – irrigate with graywater! Are there precedent projects in the area?

California Native Plants 14 years, 6 months agoHi all. I’m working on a planting plan for a steep slope in an area that has plenty of DG (East San Diego) and need to add a burgundy color to the palette. All of the other plants are xeric. I’m hoping to find something that someone doesn’t need to prune (due to the steepness) but that will add color even if it’s deciduous. I’m using Ma…[Read more]

UK Landscape Architecture 14 years, 6 months agoYes I think landscape architecture in the UK needs a boost in profile. I can’t understand, for example, why the top universities don’t offer landscape architecture courses?

Green Streets 14 years, 6 months agoSo does the water go through in the right hand corner of each cell? Or is each cell a separate containment area?

Living Roofs and Walls 14 years, 8 months agoWhat does everyone think about green roofs in the desert? Specifically the Mojave Desert? Given how much energy costs these days, would they not be beneficial? Or would the cost of having to irrigate them (which you would have to in the desert) be worth it?

Green Streets 14 years, 8 months agoWhat is the grade and the largest amount of water you are dealing with? The planter needs to be designed to handle whatever nature throws at you. You can retrofit the drain like Chris said to become the overflow at the down end of your planter. If you have a lot of slope, check dams can hold the water and pool it to infiltrate fully. Then the…[Read more]

Green Streets 14 years, 8 months agoWe are designing stormwater bioretention planters for a downtown. We want to place a planter where a storm drain currently exists. Can a planter be designed over a storm drain and be an effective bioretention measure — i.e. slowing down rainwater but not completely infiltrating? Appreciate any input.

Green Streets 14 years, 10 months agoIf anybody here has done any public work involving raingardens in Florida let me know! Since I have been working for my firm here in Tampa we have completed 4 to 5 significant “raingarden” type projects; one of them being a LAP FDOT streetscape for Tarpon Springs. Public work involving stormwater management in a creative way is far and few…[Read more]

Landscape architecture in Spain 15 years, 2 months agostarted a new Forum in this group where you can add your contact information. The idea is to have a page where the Spanish landscape architects can post their details (city, email, tf, and web page, photo, …). I post mine like example but is an open format. If somebody has a best idea to have an on-line page with actual information about us is welcome.
