I have found that it is best to be part of the design process early on, integrating bmp and lid strategies into the program. Working with the engineers can often open up more opportunities and gain momentum to make green strategies more tangible to designers, since we can explain the simplicity and practicality of these strategies. In most cases,…[Read more]

Great website–thanks for pointing it out. Living in Seattle, I have visited many of the listed projects, urban and rural, but many more are coming on board. In 2010 some Seattle homeowners will receive $$ rebates for installing rain gardens and cisterns to reduce CSO into Puget Sound and Lake Union. read more: http://www.seattle.gov/util/rainwise

Two years after clearing the invasives in my part of the creekbed in my backyard – you know, plants like Arundo and Tamarisk (how did that get there?) and Washingtonia palms (we all know how that got there) – the birds were kind enough to plant 3 Quercus agrifolia and a Toyon that is now about 12′ high. None of these are requiring additional water…[Read more]

So much to learn from you lot, hopefully contribute some stuff that may be of interest. All abstract and still learning the basics of Vector/sketch up etc. Being a Mac user can you survive with out AutoCad? ( can’t do the Windows Geekdom thing)

I have questions about Vectorworks.. one of that is.. when I use VW for 3d site modeling, it becomes so slow.. I made layers simple, even classes.. But still slow..
I’m using ‘i-mac’ resent version. How I can make it faster? Change Graphic Card?
Up Grade Memory? Is there anybody knows about VectorWorks? -

I use mostly Photoshop for my renderings, I have dabbled a bit in Corel Painter, and Corel Painter Sketchbook, but I really like photoshop. The trick to the water is its is an image that I found on Google images and distorted into perspective in Photoshop and then pasted into the image…

I’m a residential Landscape Designer in San Diego’s East County. Has anyone mentioned Tree of Life Nursery in San Juan Capistrano? They have a nice newsletter as well you can subscribe to.
I like to incorporate garden-friendly california natives in my designs. -

hi, i’d been trying to blend hand drawing with computer, and i think i got a really good renderings. after i apply style in sketchup, i draw the vegetation by hands and put it on top in photoshop. when i Apply color in photoshop, i use the wet brushes. So check my renderings and if you like I can give you more tips.
