DESIGN 17 years, 1 month agoa comment to JJ comment (?)
“The greatest designer is normal people—the best cities in the world were not designed” – my frien i think we may include that in the design category. not in the academic kind, but in the category of the design made by specific needs of people, but is design.
if t. Church said that the gardens are made for people (and…[Read more] -

365 urban landscapes LE:NOTRE Mundus Seminar 17 years, 1 month agoHello everyone !!
I wanted to share something that I found which I believe might be of interest for some of us. It is a conference that will be held in Harvard University called “Ecological Urbanism”.
Right now there is not so much information about it but It will be interesting to see what will result from it. I believe the concept of landscape…[Read more]

Graphics Teacher Workshops 17 years, 1 month agoA year plus ago I attended Richard Scott’s Accurate Freehand Persepective Drawing class in San Francisco and found him to be one of the clearest art teachers I’ve ever had. It was not an easy class, but he was so calm and insightful. He gave very specific instruction with steps to follow. What stands out the most is how much he enjoys what he does.

Graphics Teacher Workshops 17 years, 1 month agoI was fortunate enough to take Richard Scott’s rendering classes in school at Cal Poly Pomona and a water coloring class with him in Florence.
The man is brilliant. He completely understands the art and the science of color, perspective and technique and knows how to utilize them very well. I would more than recommend taking any courses you can…[Read more]

365 urban landscapes LE:NOTRE Mundus Seminar 17 years, 1 month agoI got this picture from a book called “Riverscapes: designing urban embankments”and that was the location credited in the book. So maybe we should write to the publisher and tell them to correct it. Thanks for clarifying..I hope to be able to visit this beach in person soon. 🙂

LEED in Landscape Architecture 17 years, 1 month agoI’ve been aware of SSI but hadn’t seen their latest report. Go to: http://www.sustainablesites.org
You’ll find a link to the report on the first page. I must say, the “documentation” requirements suggested in this report read like an undergraduate studio assignment for a year-long class. My recent work on a small LEED project looks like a total of…[Read more] -

and a slight correction to Claudia, Crosby Beach is near Liverpool. The Liverpudlians would be very annoyed to hear the beach has moved.

BUSINESS HELPS 17 years, 2 months agoHello Chris,
In regards to your question about marketing at a home or trade show, I have some experience in this realm.
20 years ago I designed and installed a small intimate garden exhibit at the San Francisco Garden Show. I had just recently moved to the Bay area and wanted to open my own design practice.
The show was a success for me.
After 5…[Read more] -

DESIGN 17 years, 2 months agoHi Barlow…hmmmmmmm sweeping statement, but none the less there is some merit in what you say, but surely it is not simply an american[USA] problem. I guess it depends on whose work you are looking at, and at what stage they are at in their careers. It takes time to develop individuality.
