To be more specific, I live in Chicago and have been out of work almost 13 months now-decided to start my own business 6 months ago but no major work yet. Definitely no residential, a few green roof leads but that’s really it.

Unemployed since October 2008. Moved from SD to North L.A. area with a couple leads, but they fell through due to a hiring freeze. I’ve been doing a few freelance projects. Have been trying to keep up, technologically speaking. So, I’ve been out of work for almost a year and a half.

Education seems to be the foundation for licensure and thus title within this discussion. Does it matter in formal educational settings whether or not you are instructed by licensed individuals? I asked CLARB if there was a way to double check one’s score and they told me each state decided on that option so I was curious if anyone had that experience. I’m in Illinois so we don’t have access to redlines and the state says it may or may not offer to review scores or look at the test at all and if they do it involves…[Read more]

L.A.R.E. – ANYTHING GOES 16 years, 1 month agoI know a woman who took E, was told she had failed and ordered a redline. In the process of redlining the vignettes, the reviewer decided that the woman had passed after all. She found this out after she took a Section E prep workshop, and after signing up for the exam again.

You probably could contact another state just to do a redline review of the exams that you already took. I did get a redline review in Maine ( living in MA, testing for ID, and testing in ME). It was a big help because I was repeating a graphical error which was what was killing me. I passed it the next time.

In our country, the profession is regulated (yeah, the license thing). If your agricultural engineer boss who finished ecology and horticulture happens to have secured his/her license to practice through the LArch Licensure exam, then he/she has every right to bear the title.
