My goal with this thread is understanding the industry better. I don’t have an agenda beyond that.
I want to hear about all the frustrations and pains. Together we can find solutions for them. -

It has been some time but I too have personal experience working in China and I can honestly say it was a lot of work and often without a weekend off.
Meanwhile here in the US in my extensive experience there are seldom times where I had to work on a Saturday let alone and entire weekend. We might work more than forty hours a week but that too is…[Read more] -

In the US it depends on the firm. I’ve worked at places with 12hr work days almost exclusively on design (upper tier), some larger firms where 50/wk is normal but spread out from design through construction admin -site visits, submittals, RFIs (upper tier)- though the work type was more specialized (each person had a role) , smaller firms with…[Read more]

Hi Bob.
Thanks a lot for your input.
Ahh, yes. The great Daniel Tal. Mr Tal does very nice work. I think he is more into training and instruction than producing renderings for other companies. I could be wrong here. Worth checking this.

Check out studioJDK, I’ve been a fan of Jeremy’s work for awhile now, ever since seeing this post on non-photorealistic rendering: http://www.ronenbekerman.com/making-of-urban-plaza/
It’s a nice departure from the highly-photorealistic stuff out there. -

I assume by your profession and opening statement you aren’t looking for ideas on how we as landscape architects get out the message or how we educate people rather you are looking for ideas on applications or apps for mobile devices. Please clarify.

I suggest adopting what can easily and quickly be learned, employed, and shared across multiple firms as opposed to procedures that are harder to learn and require strict adherence to standards but supposedly offer the most time/cost saving. That said, don’t be afraid to explore new ways of doing things but keep in mind that methods that are n…[Read more]

Many thanks for the suggestion. The work on their website is world class, and yes, it would be interesting to know the cost.

Nikolaos Miller replied to the topic Netafim Techline vs. Rainbird XFS in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 12 years, 3 months ago
I have installed both products and their ease of installation are pretty similar, ie both are pretty pliable and don’t kink as easily as some other brands of drip tubing. The XFS doesn’t have check valves built into each emitter like the Netafim dripline does so you need to use an air-relief at the high point of the dripline so the upper…[Read more]

A lot of us work in residential and we are not xreffing 30 drawings together. That is a whole separate world that a lot of us don’t have to deal with and have little interest in going there. We completely understand the need and that the complexity of the projects require that, but equally understandable should be that if you don’t have to deal wi…[Read more]
