Hey everyone…I think that the biggest question is terminology.  What exactly do you mean by a vertical garden?  If you are talking “green walls” then that can be dissected into “living walls” and “green facade walls”.  This is a very important distinction as green facade walls are a trellising system that doesn’t contain planting medium, plant roots or irrigation.  So, I would ask that there be some clarification on the terminology because it can either mean something or everything!

I am not going to go into the benefits of one over the other because it wouldn’t be hard to figure out the company that I work for, but I do think that we really need to do a better job of knowing the specifics of anything that we potentially design.

    Hello kiddos…
While the maintenance and resources utilized to sustain the second largest crop in America are astronomical…people (homeowners, commercial clients, institutional clients) still desire the look and feel of the bladed wonders! Here’s a blogpost with a link to some great, historical information:

Also, Stacy look for tall type fescues. They have good shade tolerance and can withstand some foot traffic. Also, buffalo grass is now hardy in most northern zones.

    Happy research!

    Hey Mark…
Hmmm…downtown Knoxville, well about the only thing downtown is World’s Fair Park. This is also where the Sun Tower??? is located. For some reason, the World’s Fair was held in Knoxville back when. There is a very nice botanical garden not far from downtown that is owned and operated by UT. Other than that…a couple of bars, a couple of so-called clubs and the university. The one thing that Knoxville does boast is some of the nicest, friendliest and most hospitalbe people on the face of the planet!
