Great idea. I just read an interview with Liz Diller taking credit for the high line with no mention of corner.
From Wikipedia:

“Diller Scofidio + Renfro designed the High Line in New York City, in collaboration with landscape architects James Corner Field Operations and planting designer…[Read more] -

Why are you interning with 6 years experience? If youre very good, have a grad degree, and 6 years experience you should be looking at the BLS or another salary site to see what the standard is in your region.
In Colorado, $12-15/hour is standard for interns. Hourly full time entry level employees earn anywhere from $18-25/hour+.

nca replied to the topic Getting Drawings from Tracing Paper to Standard Paper in the forum GRAPHICS 12 years, 8 months ago
I would suggest scanning the linework on a flatbed scanner if its not huge. Otherwise the large format scanner is kind of the only option and you do run the risk of ruining the drawing. Consider adding a sheet of bond with the trace taped securely to it.
To get rid of the dark shadows after scanning you need to get familiar with photoshop. I…[Read more]

Read half the article, but I think I get the gist. It raises some of the points someone made in the post last week on the AIDS Memorial regarding the trend since Maya Lins AIDS memorial to conceptualize very solemn, depressing places. Is it because grief is our most commonly accessible and powerful emotion? I might argue that joy is. So why aren’t…[Read more]

Would you consider any of your own work ‘beautiful?’

No kidding, but trust me when I say they still have no problem crossing and accessing the river. My point was two-fold:
1. The ecological impact of this installation is negligible
2. Going through the 3-year process of completing an EIS (for BLM land mind you where just about anything goes) is ridiculous when you’re talking about a stretch of…[Read more] -

I think it’s hard to understand if you don’t live in a predominantly ‘natural’ environment like the rockies full time. I honestly dont think the deer, elk, moose, and bear that go to this stretch of the arkansas to drink are really going to care that theres a giant piece of fabric over the river. They dont care about the highway directly adjacent,…[Read more]

I listened to Christo and jean claude speak in denver a few years ago before jean claudes death. They were completely open to the fact that their work is precisely ‘art for arts sake’ making no qualms about it.
I’m supportive of the piece not only for the potential economic benefits, however marginal, but because I think the eco-awareness…[Read more]

For what its worth, here’s my entry. I only started the project a week before the deadline and spent my free time working on the concept, so what I ended up presenting is what I would consider ‘concept graphics’ not refined renderings like many of the entries had. My mistake. Aside from the ribbon schemes, I think the scheme I chose of a rift or…[Read more]

I don’t think that’s Henry’s. If so, it’s extremely similar to my proposal.

This is what illustrator Guillarme pautrel (sp) has to say about competitions. Not that we didn’t know that ‘illustrations win competitions’ but imagine what kind of reaction this proposal would get rendered in pen and marker or even just linework. It might be laughable. I’m…[Read more]

My edit disappeared, but I was going to say the honorable mentions look like a third year architecture student went nuts with 3D Studio Max. Some of these literally look like they started as a joke.
I will do another competition when the right one comes up. I’ve learned that one really strong image goes alot further than a complete package…heck…[Read more]

Ok I cant wait.
I think this design pretty obviously won on one pretty rendering.
There are so many flaws in the design I’m not sure where to start. The concept goes completely against every fundamental principle of public space design I can think of. Here’s a bullet list:
1. Enclosure from Street- The design completely encloses the park from…[Read more]
