not sure…but could be. This is a county job and I would imagine most of the employees wear a couple of different hats.

L.A.R.E. – ANYTHING GOES 16 years, 1 month agoIt is unbelievable how delinquent CLARB is in posting scores. It has been over 5 weeks since I have taken my computer based exam Sec D. . .still waiting. I don’t understand how College Board can return results from an SAT exam, taken by millions of high school students across the country in only two weeks!

actually, I’m interested in creating makeover garden tv show, but I’m looking for point of interest of the show…
basic concepts of the show is how to create a garden from nothing become something for your home…it’s a kind simple show and host of the show must be team of landscape architect… -

There used to be a dude that had his own show, he had landscape company who did it in Florida on some higher end homes. No compromise on budget or silly “theme” items. The guy just showed what he did everyday. The design was not my cup of tea, but it was very infomative. Those makeover shows do just a good enough job so it looks okay on the…[Read more]

Portfolios and Resumes – Design Strategies 16 years, 1 month agoI created my website a few weeks back, just with a taste of my work, I figure if prospective employers/ clients like what they see, they can ask for more.
First attempt at this, any criticism would be helpful. Let me know what you think.

I agree, Jon, any show worth it’s salt should have a sustainable requirement…Might be fun to have star designers taking whacks at a site, although it might be beneath them…But it would be fun to see Martha Schwartz, Edwina von Gal, Olin, Jim corner… taking quick conceptual stabs at the same problem, talking it through on camera…

Jon Quackenbush replied to the topic What publications do you read? in the forum EDUCATION 16 years, 1 month ago
Read? Aside from Land8 I only browse pop-up landscape books… and there aren’t many of those. My next great hope is that someone comes out with a ‘Choose your own adventure’ book applied to design, so ‘Choose your own Design’. “If you want to choose permeable pavers, turn to page 56, if you want to choose gravel….”

Combine all three, assuming you have the space. The uses do not seem to conflict, and you could create a site that is constantly alive… have fun.

I’d be much more interested in a show illustrating and demonstrating how to achieve optimal ‘Sustainable Sites’ credits in both residential and commercial/municipal settings. Education on the topic is paramount to advancing the cause of stewardship because it gives face to the concept and doesn’t just parrot talking points about how important it…[Read more]

Been done, at least here in the US, but certainly NOT done well..A house close to me was chosen – the installed landscape was definitely designed by Wal-mart or Home Depot or something..I think this is a great idea, if one could just reach a little higher in terms of garden quality.

Since no one else will admit it, I will confess to subscribing to Sunset….not quite the ‘People’ magazine of landscape architecture, but definately eye-candy and its CHEAP. Yeah, yeah, plus the ones Jason mentioned except Metropolis. I like Dwell better.
