Don’t try to be a designer on the Design Section of the LARE.

I loved the whole series of experience along Battery Park. The section around Pier A, I think, might have some application to your project.  Saw that Bow river has some great Basalt stairs that must give bank stabilization as well as river access. nice.

I think clients tend to be influenced by trends, even if the designer they hire is not, right?. What can you do then? Obviously, you can’t argue with them.

Ice forces are quite amazing.  I would suggest that you will probably need specialized engineering to ensure the longevity of your installation.
Check out Harriet Island in St. Paul.  In addition to ice, the design reacts to huge fluctuations in water level.

Check the lakewalk in Duluth, MN. Giant sheets of lake ice pile up against the shore there, so I think they used a particular design strategy that dealt with that. I think they also used Ipe or some other tropical hardwood that has weathered very well. No handrails or guardrails. Similar in harsh weather and very active ice.

I use a local copy house, like a Kinkos, but with with much better laser equipment and good paper for my portfolio slicks. I don’t mind the white band around the outside as long as its even.
