You’re basically telling the employer, “if you hire me, I will put in 60% effort. The other 40% I will use to pursue my other career. And while I’m working in your office doing landscape design, I will think about how I can improve the portrait painting I am doing for another client.”
Good luck

I’m not sure if someone mentioned this yet, but I would take your Facebook user name off.
I checked out your website and you might either want to leave it off or do a cleaned up version for professional purposes. I would edit out the darker stuff like the hanging corpses and bloodied eye. You might want to scrub out all of the violent, re…[Read more] -

I agree with Wes, reduce the text into summaries or bullet points. I find the gray boxes a bit distracting too. It seems like an unnecessary element that isn’t adding anything.
Be sure to proofread, and maybe ask a friend or instructor to edit too, I saw some grammatical errors.
Almost there…. : )

I use a Mac mini for everything but AutoCAD. Like Henry C (above) I use Parallels to run the PC version of CAD. For me it was more about what I was used to, but a lot of people don’t like the MAC version.
The PC to MAC conversion is not as painless as I had hoped but it’s doable. The basic tools that annoy me most are the calendar and mai…[Read more] -

I’ve had far fewer problems with Macs than with PCs. I’m the CAD manager for a multi-disciplinary office with 70 machines.
Macs aren’t a panacea. They are undisputedly more expensive, and they do go wrong. Software compatibility is largely a thing of the past.
However, they are better made than almost any PC (definitely than any PC that is…[Read more]

Susan, I would suspect by CAD you are referring to AutoCAD, and for that I would not be able to offer a helpful suggestion. If you are looking for a CAD application that provides this currently, I would suggest you take a look at Vectorworks Landmark. With ODBC functionality, it does have the ability to tie the data from Excel to the worksheets…[Read more]

I think it looks great. You may benefit by summarizing your text into more of a summary of the project. One key item for each project I would include is the programs/process you used for each to show your experience and skills with handsketching,Photoshop,Modeling,CAD, Illustrator, InDesign etc..
People first want to see and look at the photos or…[Read more] -

Chances are you are also known as nrshcmid or some other psuedonym like that and tend to hangout in Cyburbian land. Change your username here so it is not confused with mine. No copyright declaration, but come up with your own, and here is a fresh idea, inject some humor or irony into whatever you use as your moniker.

I am not commenting here on your forum posting, I will read that later. I am giving you an early tipoff to a job prospect that seems to be right where you are right now, as in a graduate pre-landscape architect designer.

One easy(ish) thing to do is to get your hands on some GIS data for the city, then scan for vacant lots.
-If there is a large concentration of vacant lots in a small area, analyze and try to find out why, then design an intervention to revitalize the area.
-If you notice a liner pattern or vacancies, consider an “emerald necklace” style…[Read more] -
