Thank you, Andrew G!!! I’ve been biting my tongue during this entire thread, thinking the exact same thing. If you don’t know the difference in your and you’re, their and there, or principle and principal, any of your superior font decisions will likely go unnoticed by those trying to read your words.

Do you really think this is about landscape architecture vs. architecture? I really don’t think it is. There are plenty of landscape architects who support new urbanism. Personally, I think new urbanist principles are a great starting point for urban design.

Funding for a sustainable business complex at the Port of Lewiston went through this year. The problem is that because construction and development has dropped across the board the huge firms…[Read more]

This topic was the conversation flow in the office this week. The video of the talk at the CNU was enlightening and thought provoking at the same time. I have felt the Landscape Urbanism was the correct approach, but there was no name given to it other than stewardship or design with nature neither of which were inclusive enough. And su…[Read more]

Green job promises sound really nice during a campaign to fool the lefties into voting for him.
$20 bucks says he’ll say the same thing next year and we’ll post this thread two years into his next term (if he wins again) wondering where the green jobs are… We will repeat this for the president after him as well… then when the oil runs out and…[Read more] -

Most new “green” jobs I see are not readily identifiable as distinct new trades/professions. They are expanding markets for existing ones.
For instance, geothermal heating/cooling is really big here. New firms are popping up daily, and there is a waiting list. Traditional hvac companies have benefited from the demand for high-ef…[Read more] -
