Cara McConnell replied to the topic Macs Vs PCs in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 13 years, 5 months ago
I dunno, Jon Q but last time I checked a Mac laptop cost less than your $3,000 PC machine. The virus/stability thing is real. Before you criticize, learn about the opposition.
The misinformed, ignorance and delusional continue to ramble on. Those who don’t know are truly out of touch. Your descriptions about Macs are obsolete and inaccurate.…[Read more] -

Obviously, some of you didn’t read his question carefully. He asked for suggestions on sites to see and not your own opinions! If you look hard enough, every landscape design has flaws. Getty Center is worth a visit since everybody here seems to have been there. Go Nick and judge for yourself.

Nice list, Mary but he did ask “between” Monterey and San Diego. San Francisco is a 2 hour trip up north from Cannery row. Don’t miss Balboa Park and Old town in San Diego. For a spectacular natural setting, do not pass up Yosemite National park. All you have to do is go to the websites of your favorite designers and see their list of works in the…[Read more]

Cara McConnell replied to the topic top 10 landscape architecture firms in the US in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 13 years, 6 months ago
Those so-called Top LA Firms have one thing in common: All have a continuous revolving door. A more interesting question is which firms are best able to retain their employees during the recession, the large, medium or small? How about private vs public offices? And what level of experience tend to be laid-off the most frequent, entry level, 2-6…[Read more]

Don’t think you did us some type of service, Andrew. You could read into that ad from a mile away. These guys are not any different from our large corporations who outsource jobs to lower pay employees. I can draw my own conclusions about Lombardi and it’s quite low! The words I prefer to use to describe the firm are forbidden on this thread.…[Read more]

Well…you couldn’t be spending that much time on it, since time is devoted to flash and getting the necessary feedback to boast your website, right? You must be awake 24-7.
A good critic also means to point out the faults. You can’t handle the truth, it’s that simple. Or shut out any comments not pertaining to boasting your website in a…[Read more] -

Did I attack anyone here on a personal level? Did I miss something? Or did I offer “my” personal opinion. I realize people are edgy because of job security, but puhlease remain civil.
Did I say I was an RLA. My profile reads Designer, right? I should ask you that question, but don’t really care which…[Read more] -

“Any feedback is welcome” – Nick Aceto.
Some of you folks just don’t get it. I didn’t attack anyone here on a personal level. I’m giving you my honest, maybe harsh reality opinion of what you are asking: “Feedback of My Website?” Isn’t that what you asked for? What is it do you want…the same gobbledygook, “ohhh it looks good”, feel good story…[Read more] -

Thanks for your life story, nrcsmid. Next time, tell me over some cocktails and background music. You can give me the “one” LA job post that is in search for someone with Cad “and” Flash background.

Landscape architecture is a dead end job! I’ll be surprised if the profession is still around in 50 years. And that’s my optimistic view. Yikes!

Flash, CSS…So What? What’s that have to do with landscape architecture? Puhlease don’t use the another way to “marketing” my work tool excuse. Show me where there’s a job listing in ASLA that addresses knowledge in Autocad, Sketch Up, Flash, Web site design, animation…all in one description.

I don’t get it! Get your priorities in order. I agree with Rob and let me add: Are you trying to be a Graphic Designer or Landscape Architect? The time you put into learning Flash, Dreamweaver and all the fancy pansy software tools of the modern graphic designer, you could be learning landscape stuff, such as trying to be licensed! I create web…[Read more]

Cara McConnell replied to the topic **** JOB SURVEY RESULTS **** (For those hired since 2009 in the USA) in the forum RESEARCH 13 years, 7 months ago
What do you mean by “found employment” since 2009? If I was employed in 2008, never laid-off and currently with the same company, then the survey isn’t for me? And what is the purpose of this survey? Just wondering.
By the way, for question #4, you should add an option for Recruitment Agency. A friend of mine found employment through Aerotek. -

Originally I never brought up any race issue! The “bike thief” tv segment was a prime example of what our society is thinking. What are you boys talking about? You two landscape boys (Craig and Andrew) are way off base. Get back to your designs or open up a pizza parlor together. Craig and Andy’s Pizza has a nice ring to it.

Forget about it, BZ Girl!! Women shouldn’t be working in the A&E industry anyway. Leave it for the men’s club only. Females be regulated to only be employed as nurses, doctors, social workers, secretary, teachers or just stay home to cook, clean and care for the kids.
Oops…I forgot to add Librarians and Dancers on the women’s only occupation…[Read more] -
