My husband does all of these things including traveling to nurseries in different states to secure the nicest plants he can find for the specific purposes he needs. I think some of what you are seeing is the difference b/w design/build and a strictly design firm. I would imagine horticulturists would be very hands on as would the design/builder.…[Read more]

Isn’t that the truth? Adjust to reality and we will all be fine.

In the Seattle Times there was a picture of a man kneeling at one of the slabs with names on them. The image immediately made me cry.

Interesting to see how use changes the perception of the design. -

I still think the approach by an LA/LD and architect would probably come out different…design aside. I remember an architecture professor that taught Urban Theory at UI showing pictures of neighborhoods Olmsted had helped design. There were beautiful homes but he paused to say the tree lined streets were enough to “almost” (he said this with a…[Read more]

My only advice for whatever you do is pay for as much as you can while you go…don’t rely too much on student loans. With the job market you do not want to graduate with thousands in debt and no way to pay it back. And never, ever, ever, ever take out private student loans. You will want to be done as fast as possible but with some patience you…[Read more]

I don’t think his take was offensive at all…I am surprised you don’t see the difference in what he posted and the article you posted. There is a difference.

One of my professors came from Rutgers and she had us working on an Earth From Above exhibit. We researched different locations that would be best and so I know of Prospect, Battery City Park…of course Central and I think there was another over by the 9/11 site? Is that Battery City? I would love to take my kids…but that will take some saving.…[Read more]

I really like it! And I think that is such a nice classy publication for it. Very fitting. I like your website too and your portfolio. Very nice! I like it not only because it will (hopefully) get you more business but because it is advertising landscape architecture!
Speaking of New York…that is on my list…every time I see Central Park in a…[Read more] -

I didn’t know being a single mother was being promoted? haha. That is a desirable state? Nothing I was taught despite being raised by single women. Being a mother is hard work, mentally draining! I can’t imagine living in poverty as a single mother. Uff da!
I also see reference to a “weak police force”…we still have these problems in our country…[Read more] -

I agree…the ones that are working hard are not the ones that make it on the evening news. Those that make it out are facing amazing odds. I am only whereI am because I left my birth mother at age 9. Both my biological parents are very poor…my mother being homeless many times. I was fortunate to have an aunt and uncle that realized my…[Read more]

I agree Craig. I do think there is bit of a swing back to what we would call more traditional families. I know many families that scrimp and barely get by in order to have one parent stay home with their children. I think our most important job is to care for our children and that means the decisions we make generally revolve around what will not…[Read more]

As a conservative then you should realize that all this talk about creating family cohesiveness…blah, blah, blah is useless. What do you suggest? That the government DO something? You know what we do in the US? We put them in jail. Pretty expensive solution but one that conservatives heartily approve of. Rather then deal with the issues that…[Read more]
