I don’t believe our society is breaking down, every generation looks back on the good old days with rose colored glasses. Humans can be really good…or they can be really bad. Otherwise we get into the whole topic of violent music and video games. haha
The college town across the border, rural eastern Washington town had a riot about 10 years or…[Read more] -

I agree. They have real reason to be frustrated…but this is the wrong way to go about it. Very sad for the people losing their homes and businesses. Anyone remember the WTO riots in Seattle? All it takes is a spark…doesn’t even have to be related to the recession…and we will have the same thing.

I am not “happy” but you mean to say your premiums never went up before health care reforms? They only started after? Because I doubt it. My deductible is $7,500…so pretty much catastrophic. Guess what…thats life. I doubt your premium would be less…but now you have a scapegoat…with “Obamacare”. I am sure the insurance company were the ones…[Read more]

I am actually glad…my health insurance now covers preventative. We are self employed and have to buy our own. I would question whether your health insurance truly went up to due to Obama policies…I am sure we could “link” each other over the head. Additionally, they can’t deny health coverage due to pre-existing conditions. If they are telling…[Read more]

Andrew that is kind of what I am saying. People keep saying Obama is this crazy liberal stifling business but even when he could have completely run over the opposition he didn’t. This is irritating to liberals that voted him in! Democrats won huge in 2010 and there was an expectation they would do BIG things. Instead, we voted in a moderate…[Read more]

I agree Jordan. I consider myself a moderate (registered Independent) which was why I was really confused by anyone saying no cuts or no increases. Clearly we have bills to pay…haha. We have our own business and live in Idaho. Our state is fighting any tax increases but continues to hack at education spending…we were already 49th in spending…[Read more]

Me too! And how can we deny that fiscally the conversation is dominated by conservatives? The GOP considered it a compromise if they would agree to raise the debt ceiling…something required to pay existing bills, including wars, etc. they had already agreed to. So our debt ceiling debate was immediately yanked way over to the right because you…[Read more]

Yes, but you do know that one thing that caused the 1929 Crash was the Wild West mentality of the stock market during the “Roaring 20’s”. That is the point I was making…I could actually come to the conclusion that the hands off, unregulated trading of stocks during the 20’s precipitated the Great Depression. Much like the housing…[Read more]

So essentially your saying the Laizzes Faire behavior after the crash of 1920 led to a prolonged recession in 1929. Got it. Sounds about right.

Can we admit that the economic policies of our government are trending much more to the right then the left? That we had members of the GOP sign anti-tax pledges and essentially threaten to drive the economy off a cliff if they didn’t get everything they wanted? I heard a woman from Britain speaking on the threat of default that Tea Party members…[Read more]

I am curious what you want them to do? Nothing? Well we will now see what that looks like…we aren’t bailing one out again this time. I think we needed more stimulus and so do a lot of economists…that was and is impossible to get through. The idea that this administration is anti-business is a myth evidenced by the massive profits corporations…[Read more]

We have an instance right now in town where a local business is advertising for landscape architectural services…I think we are seeing more of this because businesses are struggling and see it as a tag to lure customers in. We need to protect the use of these terms so that they continue to mean something.
Wanted to add Lana…yeah I don’t call…[Read more] -

Also, just have to point out again…acting as if this “down time” is some sort of blessing in disguise is pure delusion. haha. Really? Yeah. I am sure they are all rereading old issues of Landscape Architecture Magazine to stay up to date. haha.
