Looks good.
I would add a scale and north arrow.
From what I can tell you will need to simplify your plan a bit.

Kameron,
There are a lot of creative and knowledgable people here, some with lots of time on their hands, who would love to help, but you should provide some basic information if you want any real constructive thoughts and ideas.
Information should include:
1. Dimensions of Lot
2. Inventory-whats there now.
3. Objectives-what do you/the owner…[Read more] -

No. Just this: http://www.nickaceto.com
Doesn’t that fence pretty much blow your budget then?

I stand corrected, what kind of fence are you building?
A few pictures of the yard would really help.

$1000 is your construction budget?
You’ll have to be real creative and employ some adaptive re-use on that budget. You could easily expend that budget on plants alone for even a small backyard. So that might be where I would focus. Try to focus on the fundamentals using plants-privacy, viewframing, color, texture, scent, shade and shelter, etc..…[Read more]

I would go to asla.org and search under ‘resumes’ under the ‘job link’ tab and open as many portfolios as you can handle. You could also take a look at the myriad folios here for layout ideas.
My advice: keep it simple, we’re not graphic designers. Name, date, scale, north arrow (if nec) drawing title, key/legend is about all you need. I like to…[Read more]

I’m particularly interested in how a designer approaches the issue of pending change? Are there practicable ways a designer can both influence and adpat to a changing culture/market/climate?
Should the designers role always/ever be reactive?

Roland,
I finally got around to checking this out. I’m spending some time this morning watching it online and so far have been pleasantly surprised. I thought it may be kind of a dry plant-person thing, but I’m finding the time lapse camera work astonishing. Thanks.
And I found it…[Read more]

“Anyone who has climbed a hill or a mountain knows that it is usually easier to go down than up as gravity works with you and more energy seems to be expended on slowing down then walking.”
I started skimming after about this point. Anyone who has ever actually climbed a mountain knows going down can be a lot more painful than going up.
Overall,…[Read more]

Unfortunately, In America we’ve regressed to a collective state of over-caffeinated logic based somewhere between the attention span of a hyper-active 12 year old and the litigiousness of Erin Brokovich.
Good design? I think we need more flashing, lime-green, tinsle-covered, 200 foot, interpretive, brushed titanium, elevation enhancement features…[Read more]

I just watched the ‘piano stairs’ video the other day on another site and thought,’ this would make a great landscape project.
I think designers tend to take themselves and their work a bit too seriously sometimes. Hyper-intellectualism and complex theories may work well in the studio, but the end product must be tangible and accessible for the…[Read more]

From what I have heard from those working specifically in more complex programs like Max in professional studios you should really like to do 3D modeling…all day. In other words, particularly from what I’ve heard from architects who use more complex 3D software than LA’s on a regular basis, 3D modelers are often dedicated to their task and not…[Read more]
