I don’t really think it matters to much Trace, Any one of the Republican Candidates would be a breath of freshair over what we have now. I haven’t seen much in the way of results with this President only a whole lot more debit on the books, certainly not a better economy, certainly not more jobs. Just what has he done. He has taken lots of t…[Read more]

Jimmy Carter… now there was a real flop of a President. Bush every time of course. That is not to say that in retrospect I agreed with every policy that was apart of GW’s administration. But on the other hand he too had a tough go of it. It is easy for anyone to arm chair quarterback his decisions. Just remember, America was attacked on our…[Read more]

Protest if you like Trace. But the true power that every citizen holds in a democracy is their vote. I bet you don’t even bother voting. Are you registered? I suspect not.

I guarentee you that if the Fed is proposing legislation affecting GMO’s (genetically modified organisim) for all you fellers who don’t read.) They most certainly request (routinely) responses from Monsanto as well as the rest of the industry before the legislation is voted on. And if you don’t believe me then you are revealing your own i…[Read more]

I think you have that backwards Heather. In the age of the internet it is much tougher for the media to controll anything. That is why News organizations and Newspapers are struggling so. Revenue is down and the internet is the culprit. Ordinary people now have a very useful tools for organizing. You no longer need the media to organize. The…[Read more]

The fed is doing what all central banks are task with doing controlling the economy. And in a gobal ecomomy it is not just the US the Fed has to be concerned about. I am not making excuses for them. I submit that maybe this Gobalization notion is not such a good idea after all.

There is a big difference between the Federal Reserve and the Banks! Make no mistake the Fed is in charge. They control all the rules, including how much reserve money the Banks are required to hold. A lot of people do not realize it but every time a Treasury bill is auctioned some one is obligated to buy it. If foriegn or private investors do…[Read more]

And in this economy… what makes you think that getting a higher degree will have ANY bearing on getting a job? It will certainly put you deeper in debt!

Hi Terry,
My point is that you can become over qualified. Many employers will not hire you if you are overqualified for a position. They feel like you will stick around until you find something better. So unless you are going into research or a goverment position that requires a higher degree or you plan on teaching, arbitrarily making a de…[Read more] -

It never ceases to amaze me when times get tough that people tend to believe they should go back to school for that Master’s Degree. As if to say well there is no work for me as Bachlers Degree Holder so there must be more oppurtunty as a Master’s Degree Holder!

Hi Mike,
I am one of those fellas that yearns for just a thimbal’s worth of artistic ability. I certainly agree with you that a designer that can draw effectivly and can communicate those designs well to the client can breeze quickly through the conceptual stage. And I think we would all be better designers if more attention was paid to these s…[Read more] -

I am sure the city would rather her be on food stamps rather than try to provide for her family on her own… the Dems must be running that city. I do think that there are a lot of subdivisions now that have even more expensive homes that have clauses in their by-laws that you can’t have a vegetable gardern that are having to be rethought about…[Read more]

I am glad you are working on this David! Right now I have my nose deeply buried in learning how to use my Carlson Robotic Total Station, and SurvCE. Carlson also has CAD Routines that run on top of either AutoCAD or their Flavor of Intellicad. I sure miss those bezier curves in Adobe Illustrator! Arcs give me absolute fits! I suspect by the time you get really good at AutoCAD all the employers are going to be more interested in your Civil 3D or Revit experiance. At least that is my luck…spend 10 man years to master a program only to find that the market wants something else. I rec…[Read more]

No back in the day of the original PC LA’s were not using PC’s at all. (I know that may be before your time.) At that time PC’s were real expensive. Most LA’s at that time saw PC’s as a novelty and ignored them too. And so I think it is a very relavant comparison.

When you own your own equipment Craig you don’t have to wait for a survey either because while you are on the job-stie with your Robot you are actually drawing your drawing. By the time you get back to the office you are ready to do your design. I am sure that LA’s use to say the same thing about computers back when a PC cost 5K or more and e…[Read more]

You are correct Jason most of my work is Residental and relandscaping small commercial. I do not generally do any new construction sites. I can appreciate what you are saying about a larger project and there it makes sense to use a licensed surveyor. But at my level this works GREAT!

That’s your decision I respect that. But I disagree with the aptitude notion. This is a computer with software that happens to be connected to a laser. If you can learn to use a computer you can learn to use this device as well.
