  • Hi Kevin,
If you need a really good nursery in Qatar, my suggestion is : Al Maktab Al Hollandi is one of the best!
Done a couple of projects with them, and their quality of work as well as their nurseries are superb~

  • Salam Elif,

There are a few method in creating a vertical garden. I did a project in Jordan using the green wall system by greenscreen.com (you can even download the working drawings from their website!) which as Henry describe using trellage and let the plants climb. This method however will take time.

What kind of wall system are you using by…[Read more]

Hi guys….I have just relocated to Qatar from Dubai and would like to know whether anyone of us is working in Qatar? It would be great to finally meet up with any LA from this group…The landscape scene is growing slowly here compared to Dubai. There is still soo much to do here! So far I only managed to get to know just 2 Landscape Architects…[Read more]

  • My previous proposal detailed drawings were done by Roh-Mix. This includes the cost estimates as well per square metre plus the shipping cost and everything!
It saved a lot of my time in trying to design the details for the pedestrian bridge. Roh-Mix do offer that additional service if you request for them to do so but you have to provide them…[Read more]

    Wow…

This really is a good topic with lots of recommendation for books to read!
I really need to stock up my book collections now.~

Saying that, it could get really hard to find good landscape books in Dubai.
Managed to grab some at Kinokuniya Dubai Mall, though, last week.
Will definately ty to look up on some of the featured titles…[Read more]

  • Hi Nick,

I have to agree with Rico on the freezing of any employment in Dubai Landscape firms. At the moment UAE market is pretty tight as most projects are put on hold with Clients running low in cashflow. Most of the landscape and architecture firms are laying off their staff since early January and still continue to do so as we speak.

    Market…[Read more]

  • Hi Ahmad,

Ethnobotanical plants is gaining popularity in Malaysia and I presume, there is a lot of publications by MARDI on the related topic. However, most of the books or journal touches on cosmetic and health base types of plants. Some of these plants are used widely in pre and post natal care by the midwifes. Try check out with MARDI on their…[Read more]

  • Hi Rico

From my personal point of view, Correctdeck was a bit plastic-y for my taste. I do have to agree with you on Verzalit. It gives that peculiar hollow sound due to the structure. Roh-Mix has textured surface that resembles the wood bark although the texture looks faint and a tad tacky.
Colour wise, the choice of colour that I wanted can…[Read more]

Thanks Ammar. At the moment, construction and any new development is being put on hold in Dubai. There were speculations on Abu Dhabi to be the next player in the industry with a lots of exciting ‘green’ projects coming up..

~Just abit of an updates on the current situation in Dubai~

  • Syaryzad replied to the topic Digital vs. Hand-Rendered etc. in the forum GRAPHICS 14 years ago

I personally think hand sketches personalized the presentation as opposed to digital rendering. Although in digital rendering, you can easily amend any mistakes with a touch of few commands wherelse hand rendered, might be abit tricky to do so..
Presentation done using digital sometimes looked lifeless and hard.
I would prefer to have a simple…[Read more]

  • Hi,

I have experienced using Buzon Pedestal for one of the projects in Qatar. The difference is instead of natural wood, i have proposed using composite timber. Roh-Mix has a package which combine the Buzon Pedestal and composite timber. The texture and colour is similar to wood although it lack the natural grain and texture of natural wood.…[Read more]

  • Hi,

The topik for your reserach is pretty intriguing and very interesting. I once wanted to do a research on the elephants sanctuary for my final year project but decided to opted for something else. I choose to research on Adaptive Sports Camp for the Physically Disabled Persons instead. However, below are a few links in which could help you get…[Read more]

    Hi guys..
I am wondering whether any of you are affected by the economical crisis at the moment? A few of my friends in Dubai were laid off recently due to the stagnant market..
Are there still market for Landscape Architect in the Middle East?
