Thanks, Rob, that is interesting – I geuss cremation could also be chosen, to avoid the shrine problem, but that option was possibly not available so quickly..

I agree (this is a first!) with Andrew G., I thought DNA testing took weeks, and David, it was only in accordance with muslim law in that it was done within 24 hours – the sea burial has nothing to do with Islam at all..they are pissed off..
why not cremate him and scatter the ashes, as they apparently did for Nuremburg war criminals..
itis just…[Read more] -

thinking about Mr. Rainey’s idea of a ‘memorial’ at sea, or whatever you want to call it, reminds me that the original design for the manhattan World Trade Center memorial was two voids out in the Hudson, the absent footprints of the World Trade Centers..I reallly liked that idea..
Do we have paintings of the faces of evil? Do they serve any…[Read more] -

I geuss you’re right, Rob..Just some crazy imaginings, on my part..I did a design for a water fountain that was supposed to be centered on a bronze statue, that depicted Cory Aquino killing Marcos (I used to live in the PI), Cory looked like the Silver Surfer, but female, and Marcos was laying across, Cory weilding a lightning bolt towards…[Read more]

He’s not tanking in the polls..where did that idea come from? Bush spent five years at about 22%, Obama is at 42 % and he is ‘tanking?”
what did they do with Sadam Hussein’s body? If he is ‘buried at sea’ why wouldn’t one think his bones would wash ashore somewhere – bodies often wash up on shore..
oh well, another political thread I started a…[Read more] -

@Rob – aren’t memorials all sort of ‘marvel comics’ level design? or they can be..
and I agree with Mr. Quackenbush, it seems very weird to celebrate death….
and I also agree, I had to wonder about the burial at sea story..
But how do we commemorate villains? Stalin was kept in a glass box in red square for years..Hitler seems memorialized i…[Read more] -

How about this:
Landscapes are less well known because they are inherently more fragile and transient than buildings. We still have the pyramids – we do not have the gardens around them..
Working in t he teeny patio garden I have with my present living conditions, I was t hinking how transient it is – I rent, and when I leave, the garden will…[Read more] -

@nrschmid, your fashion sense is not mine nor Joan Rivers, who gave Hiilary an Aplus for dress – I personally love her collars and her brain..condeleeza was a Bush whore, sold us down the river over the Iraq war, but she could look good – I don’t think anyone respects her at all anymore – if ever there was a token step and fetchit in office, she…[Read more]

not logical, Craig – if one is discussing why women are not present in 50-50 numbers, and then say the timid are left behind, the logical implication is that women are timid..
women are not timid… discrimination is based on external factors (like the color or your skin). So in blaming being left behind on being timid, you are calling women timid…[Read more] -

Wow, what happened to the Cheyenne zoo – new owners? they used to have so much information on their non-irrigated landscape – how the plants were planted and maintained was extremely important to the success of the designs..weird..

I disagree, I think since Murdoch bought the WSJ it should be completely written off – just can’t trust it anymore.Just look at the articles they put on the front page – completely biased…But of course, my old grey darling the NYT has been seriously compromised as well – refusing to call torture torture, Judith Miller and the Iraq War…[Read more]

Discrimination exists – if you don’t look at it, you can’t fight it..There are many subtleties and permutations of discrimination that are being, have been, and will continue to be, teased out in our society, and that have been fought against over time, and won and lost..
but it exists, and will continue to exist, and continue to be a worthy…[Read more] -

or who is doing the writing, Jason – Rupert Murdoch, aka, “The Wall Street Journal” has never been known for his allegiance to facts. sorry, bro, that is one source I will never even read anymore – it is like listening to FOX news – same owner, same bias, and lack of allegiance to truth..
