landplanner replied to the topic In Case of Emergency- What if this Tag-Team Actually Wins ? in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 13 years, 8 months ago
If our anemic national economy is slowly, slowly coming out of the doldrums, David Leonhardt of the NYT opines that whatever party ends up with their President in power, that party will take full credit for the upswing and do their absolute best to discredit the party that does not. A pretty evenhanded assessment I…[Read more]

In 2008 people felt like they did not like the status quo. The idea was that change has to be better than what we had. The question “What if this Tag-Team Actually Wins” is just that – a question. A question, just as it was in 2008.
What is no longer a question is “What if this Tag-Team does not win”. You know what that will get you because you…[Read more] -

Thanks to both replies.
It was actually more about dealing with one as the Client has already approved my layout. There was just some ‘wiseguys’ whom he has met and who suggested on having feng shui experts on board to audit the plan to guarantee if the good kind of “chi” shall be flowing in and around the complex based on my proposal. It’s an…[Read more]

Bard:
If your motivation for posting this is to start networking for job opportunities in Eastern Asia, particularly China, be advised those opportunities have diminished greatly in the last six months, and most who know from direct experience, would say that is an understatement. In case you have not been paying attention, the national economy in…[Read more] -

I am in the same boat, but just with Section 4. On top of it, my state is suddenly requiring Pre-Approval, and there is not enough time to get it before the exam.
Clarb just posted the info below. They also updated the practice test info, they no longer state when it will be available.

Some people out there might remember Ronald Reagan’ s overtly optimistic “It’s morning in America” political ads that made us start to feel good about ourselves (as a nation) again. Nothing wrong with that.
Here is what the “Morning After” might look like if Rsquared prevail…..no pill needed
From Tim Egan (no fan of Rsquared) of the…[Read more] -

eastern redbuds do ok here but will fry in exposed sites. I’d steer clear of a japanese maple unless you want to create a home depot special landscape. Not a good scale for that space either imo. I like the amelanchier idea as well.

I agree. That was another choice on my radar. I think I may go with this. Either the regional native (saskastoon) or the more shade tolerant Amelanchier canadensis. I definitely want to steer away from the lolly pop type trees or anything with a strait trunk so I am glad to get feed back that some of you think these ornamental choices with mo…[Read more]

I agree with Mark – consider a multi-stemmed Amelanchier. Or how about Amur Maple? This can’t be in CO or you wouldn’t be considering an Eastern Redbud or Japanese Maple….
I’ve seen hundreds of Japanese Maples in small spots like this in northern CA that have thrived for many years, but they have many many cultivars available ranging from 5X…[Read more] -

You should be alright with those tree choices. If there is still concern you could use a root barrier…

I have worked with a few. I even worked with an ayurvedic practicioner once. Overall, I had good experiences and learned a few things, but I found the principles a little too rigid–It can get a little frustrating when one of their do’s or don’ts conflict with common sense space planning.
I remember one instance where the consultant…[Read more] -

You may want to consider Serviceberry (Amelanchier).

No one is going to bring up the irony that it is assumed that the situation is fine if a Certified Arborist is caring for the tree while it is a Certified Arborist asking if it will work? No disrespect for Jay or any other CA, but this question does not seem to be a standard situation that all of them have with a standard game plan in place to…[Read more]

“…going to make clear to the client to only have a high end tree care company with Certified Arborist prune this tree over the years and to have it pruned to keep it’s natural shape and form…”
That will work as long as EVERYBODY knows this. What happens when an uninformed maintenance worker hacks at it, or the current homeowner moves out ?
