your analysis is a joke, get of Fox News & company and look elsewhere. The rich are getting richer and they want to keep it just the way it is, Healthcare, Insurance companies are fighting tooth and nail to make everyone eligible for healthcare, why because it will drive the cost down if everyone is covered.
To get back to this discussion, Who…[Read more] -

Jared,
The references listed are all excellent, however, the best method to gain the skill of grading is to practice and keep practicing. Get your on hands on as many practice vignettes, check out Google LARE Grading section. last time I checked there were plenty of Vignettes to choose from. Remember, Practice, Practice etc…

Andrew,
Good start, definitely needed in these times. i also notice one or two postings were for SAP Architects, Not at all related to Landscape Architects or related profession. so, keep up the good work and check the filter to keep out others who are using Architects in their job posting.

Jim Del Carpio replied to the topic Difference between B.L.Arch and B.S.L.Arch in the forum EDUCATION 14 years, 1 month ago
Hello,
From an employment perspective, I’ve seen in the past years, job postings from California had BSLA as a minimum requisite for employment as well as BLA. However, in my experience Design Firms are most interested in young candidates with BLA mostly, rarely BSLA, as a minimum requisite. Most common requisite is BLA minimum with 3-5 years of…[Read more]

Jim Del Carpio replied to the topic What is the difference between Landscape Architecture and Landscape Design? in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 14 years, 6 months ago
I’ve know of LD’s that are extremely successful, however, they don’t have the background in drainage, Grading and specifying materials, So what they do to compensate is hire Landscape Architects to remedy those areas they will or cannot do. My 2 Cents worth.

I totally agree with you, I don’t see ASLA really getting down to seek opportunities for L.A. from the AEC sector or any other market place. They ought to be advertising our abitlities in other Trade mags. E-zines, Web site dedicated to BIM/SIM(Site Information Modeling) etc… It’s a joke that so few job posting are in our ASLA web site. That’s…[Read more]

Hey,
I’ve been unemployed in Southern Florida for 11 months and finally have a client. It’s a good start but I’m continually seeking new ways I can upgrade my skill set, and locate new clients. Its a challenge for sure.
Best of luck

Phil,
Ditto Dan comments on experience, common sense and to use your company history on previous Construction estimates. I would add to his list, network(social) with local contractors and ask them for their input. Some will be glad to help out and others may not, you never know until you ask. Good Luck

One more thing, here is my suggestion. Look for someplace that you’ve not heard from others. Lot’s of people been there and done that. Not that there is anything wrong with seeing Machu Pichu and Arequipa and the other places mentioned. There is a lot, lot more to Peru than those typical sites. Nazca Valley is one example. So, take it all in. Be…[Read more]

Miles,
You lucky b#%*rd, I’m envious. I’ve got too much going on right know, otherwise I would go. First off, I’m peruvian. Born and raised till I was 8. What I can tell you is there is so much to see and explore. You’ve really got to narrow down your objectives and goals. Peru is very diverse, coastal, valleys, mountains, desert, the Amazon. Ditto on Nick’s comments, although I’m not as critical on Liebskind imagery. The only other comment I make is that it’s kinda has architectural-kinetic bent to overall website, as opposed to an organic, weaving, mysterious sense I like to see when I visit a website.
