Both professions aren’t as sexy as they sound. Most of the work is administration and drafting work, most often of the design of other more senior members of your firm. If you have a genuine knack for design, I do believe that you will do more of it than others, but it still does not add up to much time. Most often, the big ideas are co…[Read more]

Its a risk having a lot of overhead, because your chances of weathering a poor economy lessen, however when times are good it greatly increases the desirability of the firm from an employee’s perspective when times are good. Why wouldn’t I want to go to work in a nice environment? I spend a great portion of my life where I work, so why not h…[Read more]

This would be an amazing piece of information to have… I hope this data set would be able to specify the age/maturity/size of the tree as well.

I did a courtyard that was slightly larger, but I planted it densely with NE native woodland trees, both semi-mature and saplings.
Are your clients concerned with the size of the tree? The light level? What is the height of the surrounding walls and windows? What are you planning on doing with the ground-plane? Are there any utilities to worry about? -

Good tips Dave. My summary for photoshop basics:
- Layer Management (Naming & Grouping)
- Masks (What I think is the single most important concept to grasp, especially when it comes to edits. You’ll be thankful to have learned this. Rarely erase. Mask it.)
- Filters & Layer Blending Effects & Blending Modes. You’ll learn most of what you’ll need…

The best way to learn photoshop? Online tutorials & trial and error. Spend some time on Youtube as well– basically don’t pay someone to teach you something you can get for free online. Some of the best I have seen take you step by step. You will learn the in’s and the outs as well as develop a style of your own.
Start with font/text eff…[Read more] -

I am with you with the music, and I will add modern country music to that list (as Tom Petty said, modern country is just bad rock and roll with fiddles).

I dig the architecture. I am tired of everything being safe, so kudos for that. Kids need to be aware of the possibilities of life, this could stimulate them in an interesting way. On the other hand, the landscape seems to have been treated with indifference, which sends a really poor message. The landscape from what I have seen looks like a s…[Read more]

Man, the stuff I played on was truly dangerous and high risk, yet I am alive and well… no small feat. I believe kids need to fall off of things occasionally and skin their knees, get bruises and even break a couple of bones, or at the very minimum bear witness to such silly behavior. It is the only way they will ever truly learn to not do d…[Read more]
